Cornbrash Farm Cottage

The High Weald's rolling farmland around Earlsdown provides the setting for Cornbrash Farm Cottage, a single-storey property on the owner's small holding. You have the whole place to yourself: two bedrooms (one double, one with twin singles), a bathroom, and an open-plan living and dining space on the ground floor. Everything is on one level; a couple of steps lead to the entrance. The kitchen is equipped for cooking from scratch, and there's a sitting area with a television if you need it. Heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are included.

The cottage opens onto a courtyard with garden furniture and a barbecue. There's parking for two cars on site. The location is genuinely rural—surrounded by fields and working farm life—yet within a mile of a pub. Walkers can set out directly from the door; cyclists will find the Cuckoo Trail accessible, a 14-mile surfaced route through Sussex countryside towards Eastbourne. Heathfield is the nearest market town. The area has various attractions: Batemans (Rudyard Kipling's house), Pashley Manor Gardens in Ticehurst, and Herstmonceux Castle. Battle Abbey and the 1066 battlefield site are within reasonable reach, as are the beaches at Pevensey and Bexhill. Eastbourne and Brighton are both under an hour away by car, and Robertsbridge station offers train connections to London. No smoking in the cottage.
