About Furnace Brook Farm and Fishery

With ancient woodlands, stunning walking paths and a total of 30 castles, parks, gardens and manor houses, no wonder the High Weald National Landscape is on your radar. The final piece to putting together your getaway might just be Furnace Brook Farm and Fishery, an adults-only site overlooking a peaceful five-acre lake on a 20-acre wildlife haven where biodiversity takes centre stage.

This is proper R&R territory. Trace the east side of the lake up to Batsford Hollow, keeping eyes peeled for kingfishers and other birds, or simply settle in with a good book by the water. The site runs on renewable energy and offers composting loos, showers, and thoughtful touches like ice-pack freezing and a barbecue. There's even an on-site microbrewery serving local beer.

Pitches are non-electric grass spots split between Meadow and Twitten Dell areas – wild camping vibes without sacrificing creature comforts. Note that dogs aren't permitted, so plan accordingly if you usually travel with four-legged friends.

Lovely natural venue, well maintained wood chip swims, Simon the Bailiff provided some great tips and I managed to winkle out about a dozen decent sized Rudd and Roach on a very cold day using a maggot feeder on the quiver tip. Biggest plus for me is it has a nice balance of different species to fish for. I am looking forward to returning for another session.
