Dick's Cottage suits families and groups looking for space to spread out across a Grade II listed property in the village of Cottesmore. The thatched house has four bedrooms—two with zip-and-link beds that split into singles, one with a pair of single beds accessed via another bedroom, and one with bunk beds—along with three bathrooms. Two separate living rooms, each with a woodburner and television, mean there's room for everyone to do their own thing, or gather together in the kitchen-dining room for meals. One well-behaved dog stays free, and essentials like wi-fi, electricity, bed linen and towels are all included.
The kitchen is equipped to cook from scratch, with a full electric range, dishwasher, microwave and fridge-freezer. Outside, an enclosed lawned garden with patio and gas barbecue provides a safe space for children and pets, with a bike store and parking for four cars on site. Smoking is not permitted inside.
Rutland Water lies five miles away, offering sailing, canoeing, windsurfing, fishing and walks. Oakham itself is close by, along with the market towns of Uppingham and Stamford. The area holds several castles and stately homes worth visiting—Burghley House (14 miles), Belvoir Castle (23 miles) and Rockingham Castle (16 miles) among them.

We have just enjoyed a long weekend break here for our daughters 26th birthdays. This cottage is stunning! Katie the owner is lovely. The house is so spacious and very well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Super comfy beds, lovely areas to sit and while away your time. Two, yes two seating areas, both with tv's and lovely gas fired log burners. Dogs are safe and secure in the rear garden, and they even got a treat on arrival! A cupboard library, games cupboard and an amazing kitchen, you really cannot go wrong with this property. Stunning property with easy access to Oakham and Stamford. The pub the Sun inn was lively and food excellent. Overall a very enjoyable stay, will definitely book again!
