About Rye Windmill Guest House
Rye Windmill occupies a genuine early nineteenth-century smock mill, one of the last of its kind in the area, converted into a guesthouse while retaining much of its original timber structure. The mill itself contains a distinctive circular bedroom, while further rooms are set in an adjoining building around a private garden.
The gardens run down towards the river and the old town walls, giving the property a more open, tranquil setting than the guesthouses tucked directly into the cobbled streets, while still being within easy walking distance of the High Street and station.
A breakfast room overlooks the garden and mill pond, and the informal, family-run atmosphere suits visitors who want a quieter base close to, but not directly within, the busiest part of old Rye.

The Windmill in Rye is really a fantastic B&B. My partner and I had the most wonderful weekend away there. Our hosts could not have been more attentive. Lovely rooms and so convenient to the train station as well as seeing everything Rye has to offer. Stunning breakfast to set you up for the day to top it all off. Couldn’t recommend this play any higher if you’re staying in Rye.

Well, what can I say…. We loved our one night stay in room 7 at The Windmill. From the moment we arrived, Katherine had called us say our room was ready early, brilliant start, to Toby welcoming us at the front door, so informative and helpful, showed us to our room. The breakfast had something for everyone and my poached eggs on toast with mushrooms and baked beans set me up for the day. Only one thing, wished it was for 2 nights 😂

My sister and I stayed for a few days a week or so ago. It's a super clean place with very friendly staff who are interested on what you plan to do and how it went without prying. The breakfast has plenty of options and all of the ones that I tried were great, I recommend the home made muesli followed by scrambled eggs on toast if your going out and about, the full English is also great but may be a tad heavy for some if you plan to walk a lot right after as it's very filling The rooms were clean with on-suite toilets and showers that were also spotless. You might even meet "Naughty Torty" the cat when you visit who has a wonderful personality. Highly recommended. I hope to go back again at some point.

Wonderful B&B, with very lovely, welcoming and helpful hosts who pointed out the best places for us to go in Rye on a print out map (all of which we tried and were very glad we did!). The rooms are beautiful and spacious, and breakfast was also brilliant. The honesty bar was a very unique and fantastic idea. We’ll definitely stay here again when we come back to Rye, if only to check out the windmill room next time!
