About Clifton Hotel Scarborough
Scarborough's North Bay is lined with Georgian terraces overlooking the sea, and Queens Parade is where you'll find the Clifton Hotel, a long-standing 68-room property with views out across the water. It's an easy stroll from Peasholm Park, Scarborough Castle and the Sea Life Centre, making it a practical choice for a few days by the coast.
Rooms are en-suite with family and accessible options available, and many make the most of the sea-facing position. Guests get free WiFi, room service, drinks in the room and the option of a packed lunch for day trips, while the restaurant and bar downstairs cover breakfast and evening meals, with outdoor seating for fine weather. The buffet breakfast and helpful staff are regularly mentioned as high points, and pets are welcome throughout.
The hotel has a lift, though it shows its age, and the four floors mean it's worth bearing in mind if stairs are a concern. On-site parking is available but charged, and can be tight given the seaside location, so it's worth planning ahead. Beyond the hotel, the area is well set up for walking, cycling, fishing, golf and watersports, with pubs and restaurants close by.

What guests say
Just had a two night stay at the Clifton Hotel, would not stay anywhere else. The welcome on arrival was friendly and informative, our room was 127 sea view , the room is large with seating looking out on the wonderful view. This room has been recently refurbished with clean decor, new carpet and large walk in shower room, all spotless, breakfast is self service, but loads of choices and a lovely lady on duty to help with anything you need. Can’t wait to return.

Old school classic Victorian hotel perched on the cliff. Was a little hesitant booking a Britannia hotel - some of there's are shocking, but the restoration and care afforded to this gem are commendable. Very clean, great staff, good breakfast - and dog friendly. Great value too. Parking needs to be reserved in ther small car park. At busy times the nearest car park is about a 15 minute walk away (Northstead) and about £12 a day. Better bet if you can find a space is free onstreet parking just above the car park on Weydale Avenue. Cheaper rooms are 'compact' but comfy and have everything you need - it was 25 degrees and there is a fan in the room, nice touch. If you like all meals included, they had a deal at the time for £25.50 pp. So enquire before booking. Paid £77 for b & b plus £10 for our dog. Slight downside, if you have a dog you cannot eat in the restaurant so they set up a table for you in the foyer. Perhaps they could have a dog friendly area in the restaurant?

Just back from 2 nights at the Clifton and can’t recommend it highly enough. Our room was very nice, spotless clean, comfy bed and no noise from other rooms. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, great value at the bar and the bar food was really good. For an older style hotel it really ticks all the boxes, great decor, large lounge area, reserved parking available and a fantastic location. Would definitely stay here again. 10/10 from me 👍🏻

Nice experiance for the price we paid £71 for a twin room. We got room 485 it was very generous room with windws on 2 side as it a corner room. Its a bigger than you see in their own pictures massive bathroom. Iv been told not all rooms are as spacious but we were lucky.
