A traditional, long-established hotel on St Nicholas Cliff in Scarborough, known for its restaurant food and free parking.

About Palm Court Hotel

Palm Court Hotel is a traditional, established hotel with the solid, formal character typical of Scarborough's cliffside properties, standing on St Nicholas Cliff within easy reach of the town's beaches and historic sights. It has the feel of a proper old-fashioned hotel rather than a modern chain, with a lift, bar and restaurant giving it the air of a place built for long stays and long lunches.

Rooms are en-suite, with family rooms available, room service, drinks and laundry service on offer, though some have been noted as needing a bit more upkeep, so it's worth setting expectations accordingly. Where the hotel earns its reputation is at the table: breakfasts and afternoon tea are a particular strength, and the restaurant, bar and packed lunch option make it easy to eat well without leaving the building. Staff are consistently described as friendly and professional, and free on-site parking is a genuine bonus in a town where that's not always guaranteed.

Beyond the hotel, guests can walk or cycle nearby, try their hand at fishing or golf, or head to the surrounding pubs and restaurants, with watersports and entertainment also within reach. Business services and meeting rooms are available too, making it a practical base for work as well as a seaside break.

Booked for 3 nights, 2 adults. £555 B&B. Room 33. Hotel has kerb appeal. Free parking, which is a bonus. Downstairs public rooms are nice. Food was good. All the staff were polite. Then the downside. Very small lift, needs work and a clean. The room was very tired, not at all welcoming. It certainly lacked attention to detail and needed some TLC!!! Paper coming off the bathroom ceiling. Sash broken off the bathroom window and hanging down, this of course ment window didn't open !!!!. Large hole cut into the window ledges on both the bedroom and the bathroom to gain access to the radiator controls. These should have been disgised for paying guests, not left visible. The shower cubicle could have been much cleaner as had black mould along the bottom ledges and in the corners. I brought my concerns to the Assistant Manager who said she understood my issues. She said she didn't know about the ceiling paper or the holes. So that means the rooms are not checked. The paper had been stuck back on our return with glue. We will not be returning, nor recommending to family and friends.

The Palm Court B&B is outstanding. Chris and Jackie were very welcoming. The room was beautifully furnished and spacious with a Super king sized bed which was very comfortable and a small fridge which was stocked with bottled water and fresh milk. The refreshment tray had every you could possibly need. The room and bathroom were immaculately clean. The choice for breakfast was unbelievably extensive and catered for every taste. Hot or cold. Thank you Chris and Jackie for making our stay so enjoyable.. 5 stars all the way.!

Stayed here on the 11th April 2026, Hotel was nice and clean and staff welcoming. Room was very clean and warm on this bitter cold day. The Bed was very comfortable and the pillows were possibly the best I've layed my head on. The breakfast in the morning was excellent.

Misleading information from staff ruined what should have been a simple experience. We were told at reception that our voucher could be used for afternoon tea, then showed it again in the lounge before ordering and were seated without issue. Only at payment were we told it didn’t apply and charged full price, which feels completely unacceptable. To make matters worse, there were no towels in the room when we needed them, and the room was unbearably hot with no proper way to cool it. Overall, poor communication and basic standards not being met — wouldn’t stay again.
