About Travelodge Scarborough St Nicholas

St Nicholas Cliff sits above the sweep of Scarborough's coastline, with the beach and the town centre both close enough to reach on foot. Travelodge Scarborough St Nicholas makes the most of that position, offering a straightforward base for exploring the seafront and the attractions scattered around it, from fishing spots to watersports along the shore.

The hotel has 140 rooms across six floors, each with an en-suite bathroom and drinks available in-room, plus accessible rooms for those who need them. A lift serves all floors, and reception operates around the clock. On site there's a restaurant and bar for meals and drinks, breakfast is available, and an electric vehicle charge point is provided for guests who drive. Some rooms are more tired than others, so it's worth setting modest expectations on decor rather than expecting a recent refit.

Pets are welcome, and the surrounding area has no shortage of pubs, restaurants and evening entertainment within walking distance. Parking isn't on site, but the Balmoral NCP Car Park on Aberdeen Walk is a six-minute walk away for those who need it.

No aircon, so in the heat you have the choice of seagull noise (incessant) or just sweating it out. They do provide fans, but fans do not cool air down. The communal area has aircon so it's clearly not beyond their maintenance scope. Thin ceilings and walls so noise of people walking is also likely to wake you. The location is good (if you don't mind the birds), but there are better alternatives in a stone's throw. During my visit, both the elevators I know of were working fine, but one is very small and the other still needed you to use stairs for a short distance once arrived (depending on the room you are in). This isn't a problem for me, but could be for others. Parking in the town center and near the tourist sites is not easy. My expectations for parking were set, so this did not affect my rating... If you are car-dependant, you'll need to plan ahead and find multiple alternative places before you drive. And keep the alternatives in mind until you leave the town. Some parking areas are 'disc zones' and tourists can get discs from specific shops (the castle's gift shop is one place). Others are pay and display, some allow you to buy 24 hours at a time and the ticket seems to be transferable between Council-owned lots.

Great location near town and beach . The staff were great very helpful. We had breakfast and the dinner which was very nice and there's two drinks for £7 between 5and 7 .The only issue was the seagulls, but what do you expect at the beach lol. Will definitely go back with earplugs 😁

On arrival we had to find a parking space which was very hard and to find out you have to pay upto 6pm, free over night until 9am. We found our room on the 4th floor which was ok. Until we looked out of the window. WOW what a view. Amazing looking over the beach. I nearly payed extra to choose our room but didn’t. Location was great. Centre of everything. Payed for a breakfast. Hmmm. It was what it was. Scrambled eggs was not real eggs. Mushrooms were not cooked but the pancakes were amazing. Room was clean enough. Decoration was finished badly, found mould (look like it) on the quilt cover. I ent to close the curtains and had to move a load of curtain hooks so it could shut. We had made friends with a seagull which sat on the windowsill. To be honest I have payed less for a room and in better condition, but I suppose you pay for the location.

We checked in at 2.45 and checked out at 4.15. I would not waste money, time or effort on this travel lodge in Scarborough. Save yourself the hassle and book somewhere else. Me and my partner had a break booked for Scarborough, we came and enjoyed the food festival, seafront and went to check in. STAFF ARE LOVELY however, the rooms are diabolical. The first room was lathered in mould and stunk of damp as soon as we entered, I began cleaning the mould off the windows because I was genuinely worried we would become ill with the amount of species spawning from the mould. I spoke to the receptionist and she moved us to another room. We entered the second room and thought it’s ok, we can cope for one night. However whilst in there we found more mould growing on the windows (a very small amount compared to the previous room) there was yellow marks on the sealant around the toilet and stains on the toilet seat, body hairs in the shower and to top it off as I went to sit on the bed I noticed some inconspicuous brown stains on the pillows, enough was enough I could not get in that shower, pee on that toilet or sleep anywhere near that bed. We went to the reception and asked for a full refund (again staff were nice and helpful). The receptionist informed us we couldn’t get a refund from him we would have to call the number for head office and to my surprise the number was chargeable!! I was warned by the receptionist we would most likely need to email them. I have complained and hopefully will receive a full refund but what an absolute let down, we had to come home, and now will wait upto 10 days for them to refund us (that’s if we get anything at all, the reviews don’t give me hope of a full refund). Cannot upload photos as it won’t publish, but vile.
