The Wheelhouse
Scottish Borders
The Wheelhouse sits a mile inside the Scottish border in Kirk Yetholm, one of two joined villages at the end of the Pennine Way. Rolling countryside surrounds the property, with Kelso six and a half miles away—a historic market town at the confluence of the Tweed and Teviot rivers, full of shops, restaurants and year-round events. A pub and restaurant are just 150 yards from the door; the shop is half a mile away.
Originally the wheel room of a grain mill, this ground floor apartment has been converted into a light, spacious home for two. A single bedroom with zip-and-link bed (configurable as two singles on request) leads to an ensuite wet room with bath, shower and shower seat. The living space is open plan, with a dining area and kitchen equipped for proper cooking—electric cooker, microwave and dishwasher all provided. Wifi, electricity, bed linen and towels are included; there's parking for two cars on site, a utility room with washing machine on request, and a patio with garden furniture. The Borders offers outstanding terrain for cycling, hill walking, bird watching and fishing, with golf courses and riding stables nearby. No smoking.
