About Rocpool Reserve

Rocpool Reserve is a Georgian mansion on Culduthel Road, a short uphill walk from Inverness High Street and the castle. It was converted into a boutique hotel in 2007 and has kept a deliberately theatrical style: black and white outside, strong colours, mirrored surfaces and dramatic lighting within. With just 11 bedrooms it feels closer to a private house than a hotel, and it has held a five-star grading for some years.

Rooms are divided into four grades, named Hip, Chic, Decadent and Extra Decadent, and the differences are real rather than cosmetic. Even entry-level rooms are well equipped, with Egyptian cotton linen, large flat-screen televisions and coffee machines. Move up the scale and you gain double showers, private balconies and, in the top rooms, outdoor hot tubs looking over the city and the Great Glen beyond. Guests are met on arrival with a glass of champagne.

The restaurant operates as a Chez Roux, developed with the Roux family, and serves French-influenced cooking using Scottish ingredients in a conservatory dining room that opens onto a terrace. The bar is popular with locals as well as residents and has a solid whisky and cocktail list. Breakfast is cooked to order. There is no spa or leisure facility, which keeps the focus firmly on the rooms and the food, and parking is provided on site.

The position works well for exploring. Inverness railway and bus stations are ten minutes on foot and the airport around fifteen minutes by car. Loch Ness, Cawdor Castle, Culloden and the Black Isle dolphin-watching spots at Chanonry Point are all short drives. The hotel is small and adult-focused, so it suits couples and short romantic breaks rather than families, and guests should be ready for the walk back up the hill from town.

The room was small and not what was expected. It was clean same well appointed. The service was fantastic. The Manager greeted us and brought our luggage up. He also greeted us in the morning. breakfast was very good. Served hot and quickly too Very good location. Peaceful and safe. Easy to walk around.

We spent two nights are Rocpool Reserve Hotel and were really impressed with the facilities, but even more with the manager, Jambahir (sp?), and his staff. They were so incredibly nice and helpful all the time. Our room was really big with a very comfortable bed and a huge bathroom with separate shower and bathtub. Breakfast was amazing: a 4-course feast with lots of choices.

on first impressions the place was beautiful. great location. but on further inspection the room was riddled with wood louse. in the bathroom & seating area, pretty much every square inch or room had multiple wood louse some dead and alive. obviously been there for some time also. would NEVER stay again or advise anyone to stay. poor show shown by management who all they had to was was sorry and hand us a tin of bug spray.
