Fieldhead Campsite

The site itself is beautiful, with stunning scenery and clean, well-maintained facilities. However, our experience wasn’t quite what we’d hoped for. We stayed as a family of four with our dog, in a large tent with one car. By the time all the additional charges were added on, the cost for a single night was fairly substantial. For that reason, we expected a little more in terms of comfort and site management. Our family was in bed by 9pm, but several groups of hikers remained up until around 2am, becoming progressively louder as the evening went on. There appeared to be no intervention from site management. Throughout the night, people were also starting car engines and repeatedly accessing vehicle boots, which made for a very restless night’s sleep. One additional frustration was the timing of the toilet cleaning. The facilities are closed for cleaning between 10am and 12pm, despite checkout being at 10:30am. Having packed up and been ready to leave, our young children understandably needed the toilet, but we were told to wait. Unfortunately, asking a 2 and 5 year-old to wait simply isn’t realistic. We were aware before arrival that showers incur an additional charge, but having paid close to £60 for one night on a non electric pitch, it does feel disappointing that even basic shower facilities aren’t included. Overall, the setting is fantastic, but the noise levels, facility access during checkout, and the number of additional charges meant the experience didn’t quite justify the price for us.

I had a great stay at Fieldhead Campsite. The access process was very straightforward, making arrival stress‑free after a long day of travelling. The site itself is in a comfortable, peaceful location, perfectly placed for exploring Edale and the wider Peak District.Fieldhead is a simple, back‑to‑basics campsite, but that’s exactly its charm. The facilities are clean, the atmosphere is relaxed, and it’s an easy place to settle into before heading out onto the trails. Being able to walk straight into the surrounding hills from the campsite is a huge bonus.A welcoming, quiet spot in a fantastic location — ideal for anyone looking to enjoy the outdoors without unnecessary fuss.

A lovely quiet campsite in a fabulous location. The staff were so friendly, knowledgable and welcoming, the facilities were kept clean and tidy with lovely hot showers. Perfect for backpacking stays. Might give the Canping pods a try next time! Thanks for a great stay, Amber

This small and simple campsite is exactly as described. Lots of little areas to camp, the sound of the stream next to you and a real ‘in the middle of nature’ feel. The loos and showers are good and were clean whenever I used them despite it being busy with DofE kids. It is well placed for walking, close to two pubs and the train.
