About Stoney Acres Luxury Holiday Park

Smart Shropshire stays are what's on offer at Stoney Acres Luxury Holiday Park, a peaceful adults-only touring site in a handy location just off the A49 about 15 minutes south of Shrewsbury. The name isn't misleading – this is properly upscale camping, with underfloor-heated bathrooms boasting rainfall showers and granite worktops, plus thoughtful extras like hairdryers and a dog wash station. Each pitch comes fully serviced with water, waste, 16-amp electric and digital TV hookup, while ultrafast fibre wifi keeps you connected.

Easy access to the main road means exploring is simple, whether you're heading into Shrewsbury, south into the Shropshire Hills National Landscape or visiting Ludlow and Ironbridge. You can leave the car behind too – the nearby village of Dorrington (a 10-minute walk) has bus services to Shrewsbury, Ludlow and Church Stretton, plus a shop, butchers and gastropub for supplies or a meal out.

The landscaped grounds offer the extra calm that comes with a child-free environment, and the modern design ensures full accessibility for guests with disabilities. It's a small site with just large and extra-large pitches, so you'll have plenty of space to yourself.

1st visit to this lovely site. Secure electronic wooden gates to a lovely well cared for site, with wooden seating areas and nice plants. Dogs are allowed even though there is no designated doggy walking area. We are not dog owners, but this really wasn't a problem. Dog owners were very respectful, walked their dogs around the outskirts of the site and cleaned up after. The Toilets and Showers are the best we've seen, amazing. 10-15 mins walk to Dorrington Horseshoes, lovely pub, well worth a visit. The bus stop is right outside the pub to go to Shrewsbury or opposite side of the road to go to Ludlow. Thank you for a lovely stay, we will return. xx

I have no words for how utterly appalled we are. Days before our stay, we emailed to explain that there was a possibility we would be delayed because of work. We also explained that we were travelling with three elderly dogs, including Callie, who has advanced dementia and whose health is sadly deteriorating. We explained how important this trip was to us, as we know it may be one of the last weekends away we have with her, and asked if a later arrival would be acceptable. We received a reply confirming that this was absolutely fine and that they would look out for us. When we arrived, we were instead refused entry by a man who appeared to be heavily intoxicated. We even showed him the email confirming our later arrival had been agreed, but he simply said, “We don’t do emails,” despite the fact we had received a written reply from the site. He said they had called me? Yet I had no calls or voicemails. Our stay had been paid for in full, including the additional charges for our dogs and awning, yet we were left with no choice but to turn around and drive all the way home. This trip was incredibly important to us. We rarely get time off together, and knowing Callie’s condition, we wanted to make precious memories while we still can. The journey home left one of our dogs extremely distressed, and the whole experience was heartbreaking. We chose this site because its not to far to travel, and appeared to be exceptionally dog friendly. To be treated this way after receiving written confirmation that a later arrival would not be a problem was truly unacceptable. We were left shocked that anyone could treat paying customers with such little compassion, especially after we had explained our circumstances in advance. We booked through pitch.com for Fri sat sun, if the late arrival was going to be a problem we wouldn’t have booked. We didn’t roll up late on purpose. So for anyone booking, if you’re late or get stuck in traffic, break down forget it ! We understand and appreciate some places have many rules but I think this was like nothing we have ever experienced so far. It’s a no star but to post I had to click one.
