About The Vaults

Castle Gates in Shrewsbury sets the scene for The Vaults, with the tarn at Sow How nearby adding a green outlook and Shrewsbury's town centre only a short distance away. It's a spot that suits guests wanting easy reach of the county town of Shropshire without staying right in the thick of it.

Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, comfortable beds and practical extras such as an ironing board and a power shower, along with free WiFi and drinks available in the room. That said, upkeep in some rooms has been inconsistent, so it's worth bearing in mind alongside the otherwise solid basics. Guests can make use of the bar, garden and outdoor seating, and staff are on hand around the clock at 24 hour reception, with luggage storage available for those arriving early or leaving late.

Free on-site parking makes driving in straightforward, and the location puts a golf course, pubs, restaurants and entertainment venues within easy striking distance, alongside the train station for onward travel. It's a straightforward base for exploring Shrewsbury, with staff regularly praised for their friendliness and the overall stay considered good value.

Lovely hotel and pub. I enjoyed the service. The room wasn't the best, sealing literally with a hole in it, toilet seat wobbly and even the frame on the wall was broken and dusty. Some bits could have been fixed easily so that was disappointing. Overall was clean and quite. Location is quite good

Room was decent enough for one night. Everything you need even had ironing board and iron. Bathroom door didnt shut properly but with the Mrs didnt really bother us. Power shower in the room too but could do with a new head but overall we enjoyed the stay and the location is right in the triangle of the prison, train station and the castle all minutes walk away. Town centre is a about a five minute walk. Juat a quick note. If I wanted luxury I would of went to a purpose hotel. Me and mrs like to get somewhere whats value for money and more or less somewhere to sleep and a bag drop off because we are out all day sight seeing and shopping. So for us the room was fine and adequate and would go back if we travelled again. Thank you

Clean room friendly staff good value. Parking close and cheap. Did not get chance to have a drink there but it looked busy enough which is always a good sign
