About Baylis House

A dedicated bridal suite sets the tone at Baylis House, a 40-room hotel on Stoke Poges Lane in Slough that doubles as a well-used wedding and function venue. The grounds are spacious with a garden and ample free on-site parking, and the setting is regularly chosen for celebrations and parties as much as overnight stays.

Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning and free WiFi, with drinks available in room and packed lunches on request for early departures. That said, some rooms have been reported as tired and not always well kept, so it's worth bearing in mind alongside the hotel's strengths elsewhere. Food is a highlight, with a restaurant serving Indian dishes alongside a bar, snack bar, breakfast and kids' meals, and staff are generally praised for attentive service, particularly around events.

Guests also have access to business services and luggage storage, useful for those passing through Slough rather than staying for an occasion. Nearby, the Roald Dahl Museum offers a point of interest, while golf, fishing, pubs and restaurants in the area give options for those looking to venture beyond the hotel grounds.

This was, without question, one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. Paying over £300 for a room and receiving this level of accommodation is completely unacceptable. The room was in a shocking state. The showers were literally held together with electrical tape, which immediately raised concerns about both cleanliness and safety. The floors were filthy and in desperate need of attention. When it came to the bed, there was no proper bedding at all—just a single sheet, making for an incredibly uncomfortable night's sleep. The bed has posts under it to keep it from falling apart. To make matters worse, there were no towels provided whatsoever, and guests are apparently expected to bring their own amenities, despite paying premium prices. For over £300 for a couple of nights, this is beyond unreasonable. The biggest disappointment, however, was the attitude of the staff. Every issue that was raised was met with the same response: "It's not our responsibility." There was no attempt to resolve problems, offer alternatives, or show any concern for guests' experience. The complete lack of customer service was staggering. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. For the price charged, the standards are unacceptable, the facilities are poorly maintained, and the customer service is non-existent. Save your money and stay somewhere that values its guests. The photos they provide as the enchanting hotel must be photoshopped as this is clearly the run down of its former self. A stay at faulty towers hotel would be like staying at a 5 star hotel compared to this place. For your own mind and health stay away.

Hi . Today I attended one wedding. Food serving staff was untrained. Instead of serving they were throwing food on tables and food was sapling on tables. No manners. Food was very basic. Coca Cola served was imported from Romania. Not good. I will not recommend any one . Very disappointed

We had our engagement party at Baylis House and couldn’t have been happier with how everything turned out. The whole day ran really smoothly, which meant we could just relax and enjoy it with our friends and family. The venue looked great and had a lovely atmosphere. Everything was well organised and set up just how we wanted, with no stress on the day. Paul was brilliant throughout – really helpful, easy to deal with, and always on hand to answer questions. He made the whole process feel straightforward and made sure everything went to plan. Overall, a great experience and we’d definitely recommend Baylis House for any special event! Thank you Paul!

AVOID - PARKING FRAUD ALERT Absolutely terrible experience with Baylis House Hotel. I attended the venue assuming parking was free for guests, only to later receive a parking charge. I appealed in good faith and even tried to resolve the matter directly, but instead of any understanding or support, my case was completely ignored. Due to an error on their parking contractor’s side, I never received a response to my appeal. Despite this, the matter was escalated straight to debt recovery without any effort to contact me properly or resolve it fairly. Today, I was forced to pay £170 just to close the case. This is not how you treat people who visit your venue. The management clearly does not care about customers or the local community. It feels like everything is driven purely by money, with no consideration for genuine situations. When I tried to communicate, I was met with rudeness, ignorance, and a complete lack of professionalism. It’s especially disappointing given the number of negative reviews already out there — yet nothing seems to change. Instead of improving, they continue to allow situations like this to happen. What should have been simple, free parking ended up costing me £170. I would strongly advise others to avoid this place. There are far better venues that actually respect and value their visitors.
