About The Royal Victoria Hotel Snowdonia

The Royal Victoria occupies a substantial site at the eastern end of Llanberis, in mature grounds on the narrow neck of land dividing Llyn Padarn from Llyn Peris. Dolbadarn Castle's tower stands on the rise directly behind, and the Snowdon Mountain Railway terminus is a two-minute walk from reception. Few hotels in the park are better placed for a car-free ascent of Yr Wyddfa.

It is a big hotel by Snowdonia standards, with over a hundred bedrooms spread across the original Victorian building and later wings. Standards vary accordingly: the refurbished lake-view rooms are comfortable and well finished, while some of the older stock is plainer. It is worth paying up for a room facing the water or the mountain rather than the car park.

Facilities include a bar, a restaurant serving dinner and a large breakfast room, function space that hosts weddings and coach parties, and ample free parking — no small thing in Llanberis, where roadside space disappears by mid-morning. Groups and organised walking parties are common, which keeps prices reasonable but means the public areas can be busy.

The location does most of the work. The Llanberis Path begins a short walk away, the lake is right there for paddling, the National Slate Museum and Llanberis Lake Railway are both within ten minutes on foot, and Pen-y-Pass is a ten-minute drive up the pass. It suits walkers, groups and families who want everything within reach and are not expecting boutique polish. Dolbadarn Castle's grounds are open to wander in the evening, and the lake path around Llyn Padarn makes an easy flat walk on a rest day when the tops are in cloud.

Our rooms were ready on arrival for our stay of 3 nights. One of our party has mobility issues, so the lifts were a godsend. The corridor floors were a little uneven in places. It was a heatwave whilst we were there and the fan in the room helped a great deal in managing the heat overnight. The food at evening meal and breakfast was excellent and fairly priced. The bar served a good selection of beers. Outside the grounds are magnificent. We enjoyed having a drink in the sun or under shade covering many of the tables. The car parking is right outside the hotel. A great feature is it is 5 minutes from start of Llanberis path to Snowdon summit and 2 minutes from the Mountain Railway. The checkout process was quick and efficient. Finally I would like to thank the staff. Each person we interacted with was delightful and nothing was too much trouble. We will most likely visit again!

We have just returned from a four night stay . We stayed on the 1st floor overlooking the carpark we had no complaints about the room. The staff all around, reception, bar staff and waiting staff couldn't do enough for you. Excellent buffet breakfast, evening meals were delivered fast and efficiently.

Great hotel right next to the laberis path to snowdon. We stay here for two nights in the coach house (on the hotel grounds). Big Carpark on site also a bar open to non residents that serve some of the best food going. Service from staff was excellent and breakfast was a hot buffet with plenty of choice of other items. In the room was a iron board and a iron also a kettle and coffee pod machine (but no tea bags of milk)

We have stayed at The Royal Victoria Hotel multiple times when climbing Yr Wyddfa and we have always loved our visits. The location and views are perfect. So when it came to picking our wedding venue there wasn't anywhere else we could picture our day. From booking our viewing to every email exchanged after that, Ana was always so quick to respond and she was happy answering my many many questions! If there was anything we wanted or needed help with on the day, nothing was too much to ask and Ana was happy to help with anything. The venue was amazing and all of our family and friends who travelled and stayed for our wedding enjoyed their stay at the hotel. Everyone also loved the buffet we had at the reception. From a pre wedding morning hike to the top of Yr Wyddfa to the amazing scenery of Dolbadarn castle after the ceremony our day couldn't have gone any better. The value for money with their wedding packages is actually crazy. No one believes us when we tell them how much of a bargain it was to get married here. Bargain aside we could not recommend them enough. Thank you Royal Victoria for providing us with memories we will cherish forever.
