Karslake House

Somerset

Karslake House is a terraced cottage in Winsford, a village on the edge of Exmoor National Park. The building has uneven floors and small steps throughout, a legacy of its age. It sleeps six across three bedrooms: a kingsize on the ground floor with an ensuite, a kingsize on the first floor with a shower in the room, and two singles with their own shower. A fourth bathroom with a bath serves the main first-floor bedroom. Parking for two cars is on site, and an enclosed courtyard has patio furniture and a barbecue.

The kitchen comes equipped for self-catering, with an electric cooker, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. Downstairs there's a living room with a woodburner and a separate toilet. Wifi, electricity, bed linen and towels are included. The property is non-smoking.

Walking dominates the immediate appeal: Exmoor National Park lies on the doorstep, with routes for all abilities and regular sightings of deer and the famous Exmoor ponies. The village shop and a food-serving pub are within walking distance. Wider exploration reaches the medieval town of Dunster with its National Trust castle, and Minehead further towards the coast. Dulverton, the main Exmoor town, has shops and restaurants worth a trip.
