Llama Lodge

Photo: Mark

Llama Lodge is a single-storey log cabin positioned on a working farm among the rolling hills of Somerset's Blackdown Hills National Landscape. The building sits on level ground with level access throughout, and opens into a combined kitchen, dining and living space with French doors leading to a garden with decking and seating. One bedroom holds a double bed; the other has two singles. There is a shower room with a cubicle shower and toilet. The cabin is yours alone, with private parking for two cars and a bike store on site.

The kitchen is equipped for cooking proper meals, with a gas hob and electric oven. Heating is provided by gas central heating, and bed linen and towels are supplied. One dog can stay free of charge, though must be kept on a lead as the property shares the farm with livestock. A lawned garden with patio furniture invites time outdoors. The cabin sits adjacent to the owner's home but is private and self-contained.

The Blackdown Hills offer an extensive network of footpaths for walking and quiet lanes for cycling. The coast at Lyme Regis and Seaton lies about an hour's drive away, while the working farm itself—home to cows, sheep and llamas—makes the setting unmistakably rural. A pub and restaurant are 4 miles away; a shop is 5 miles distant.

Owner didn't know we were coming. Lodge wasn't ready, bed wasn't changed. Milk in fridge gone off. Dirty sink. Toilet broken so couldn't flush. Mould all around the shower tray. Won't be booking there again.
