The Old Butchers Cottage
Somerset
An 18th-century terraced cottage that once served as the village butchers, The Old Butchers Cottage has been restored as a one-bedroom retreat in Nunney, a small Somerset village three miles from Frome. The building's period character remains intact, though the interior now functions as a self-contained holiday home with everything needed for a short stay.
Downstairs holds a kitchen with a full range of appliances and a living room centred on a wood burner. Upstairs, a double bedroom (4ft 6in) connects to an en-suite with a walk-in shower. Essentials including electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wi-fi are covered; logs for the burner are supplied. A courtyard garden opposite the cottage, furnished with seating, includes a barbecue and firepit. On-road parking is available, and an electric vehicle charging point can be arranged with the owner.
Nunney itself has medieval castle ruins beside a river, a local pub and café. Frome nearby offers weekly and monthly markets, independent shops and restaurants along cobbled streets. Within driving distance are Longleat, Wookey Hole, Bath's Roman Baths, and the museums at Yeovilton. The property does not permit smoking.
