Craigielea Cottage
Somerset
Frome has reinvented itself as a centre for independent makers and artists, and Craigielea Cottage sits on high ground above the town, far enough away to feel rural but close enough for an eight-minute walk down to the riverbank and into the artisan quarter. The property is a self-contained annexe within the owners' grounds, originally built in the 1940s; the owners occupy a later extension and you have your own entrance and complete privacy.
Two double bedrooms, a living room with dining table, a shower room and a full kitchen occupy the space. Bed linen, towels, heating and power are included, along with wifi. There is a terrace with outdoor seating that faces south, and the garden wraps around the building; from here you can walk straight out into fields. One dog is welcome. Parking is on site for one car, with additional spaces on the road outside.
The location makes a good base for the Somerset and Wiltshire attractions within a short drive—Bath, Wells, Glastonbury, Longleat, Wookey Hole, Stonehenge and Avebury are all reachable. Walkers have immediate access to local countryside and the Mendips beyond. Frome itself hosts a major arts and music festival in early July and contains more listed buildings than Bath.
