Ayrshire Loft

On the grounds of historic Cloncaird Castle near Kirkmichael, Ayrshire Loft occupies its own corner of a 113-acre estate beside the River Girvan. The setting combines working countryside—with woodland, fishing rights, and gardens—alongside proximity to the Ayrshire coast, ten miles off. Kirkmichael village, with its shop and pub, sits just over a mile away; larger towns like Maybole and Kirkoswald are nearby for more choice of cafés and restaurants.

The loft itself is on two floors: downstairs holds an open-plan living space with kitchen, dining area and a walk-in shower room; upstairs is a bedroom with a super king bed. The kitchen is equipped for proper cooking, and essentials like wi-fi, heating, bed linen and towels are provided. There is parking for two cars on site, and one well-behaved pet stays free. Smoking is not permitted.

This part of Ayrshire rewards exploration. Culzean Castle, designed by Robert Adams, sits dramatically on cliffs nearby; Dumfries House, home to notable Chippendale furniture, is also close. Turnberry Resort offers golf, a spa and outdoor activities. The coast itself has sandy beaches and walking trails, while boat trips from Girvan reach Ailsa Craig for seabirds. The immediate grounds contain a pond and the river itself, 200 yards from the loft.
