Burnside sits within the grounds of historic Cloncaird Castle near Kirkmichael, surrounded by the Ayrshire countryside. The River Girvan runs through the estate, which spans 113 acres of woodland and gardens, with fishing available on-site and walking paths throughout. The village of Kirkmichael is just over a mile away with a shop and pub; Maybole and Kirkoswald are nearby for more choice of dining and supplies. The Ayrshire coast lies within 10 miles, reached via small villages and coastal towns, many with sandy beaches and cliff-path walks.
The whole property is yours alone, with two bedrooms upstairs, each with an ensuite shower room and a zip-and-link bed that converts to singles on request. Downstairs there is a living room with a Freeview TV and wood-burning fire, and a kitchen-dining space with electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge-freezer. Oil underfloor heating keeps the house warm; electricity, bed linen and towels are included, along with initial fuel for the log burner. A welcome pack and garden with sitting-out area are provided, and private parking fits two cars.
One dog stays free and can enjoy the grounds, though it should be kept on leads as the area is sheep country. A travel cot and highchair are available on request. No smoking is permitted inside. The combination of countryside setting, river access and proximity to the coast makes this a base for both quiet days and exploring—Culzean Castle (with its dramatic clifftop position) and Dumfries House are both within reach, as are the ruins of Dunure, Turnberry and Greenan castles.

Excellent light and airy triple room, very clean and with superb facilities and toiletries. Ideal local very close to the sea front. Paul was very friendly and accommodating with our bikes, highly recommend The Burnside.

Absolutely amazing. Clean, and Paul. True Scots, í actually if he wears bagpipes in his backpack. These days, just drive. Just go to a place outside

What a gem, bedroom very spacious with every facility you'd experience. Massive Double point shower, comfiest bed ever. Place is absolutely spotless, hosts are super friendly and professional. Truly is one of the best stays I've had in the U.K. if its available GO, it's that simple. This is the view from my bedroom window....

Location is great. Paul was a great host, had good chats, guest house was clean. Room: Didn’t realize I booked a room with a bathroom outside the actual room I didn’t like that too much. A) Privacy going to n forth B) Right night to the dining room so you get woken up with all the talking Bed very uncomfortable, not sure if mattress or box spring. But I would for sure stay here again just wouldn’t book room 6 ground floor. Thanks for a great breakfast Paul. Canada
