Fledgling Barn works well for couples or groups of four wanting their own space without feeling cramped. The conversion keeps the building's character while making everyday life straightforward: two bedrooms sit on the ground floor, each with its own bathroom and shower, while upstairs the living area flows between kitchen, dining and lounge without walls dividing them. A wood burner marks the heart of the sitting space, and the kitchen has what you need to cook properly rather than just heat things up. Underfloor heating runs throughout, and essentials like bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and electricity come as standard.
The barn opens onto countryside near Chillington, with Coleridge Dairy just across the lane—its vending machines stock fresh local milk and meat if you need supplies. Slapton Sands and Torcross are reachable in minutes by car for coastal walks, while Stokeley Farm Shop sits nearby for picnic ingredients or a café lunch. Parking fits three cars on site, and there's a back garden with a firepit and barbecue area (shared with other properties here). The property is no-smoking throughout.

We have just booked our 5th trip here after returning from our 4th. The location is perfect and is close driving distance to lots of fabulous things. Even after 4 visits we keep discovering new things to do. The accommodation itself is full of everything you need and more. There are lots of personal touches which make it feel like home. The view of the stars from the hot tub is always beautiful. What makes this place unlike anything else is how kind and wonderful both Lucia and Dan are. They really go out their way to make sure we have everything we need. I cannot recommend it enough.

What a fabulous place to spend the holidays! We stayed for 4 nights at Swallows Flight in the Fledgling Barn, and loved it. Great location, close to some amazing beaches, and plenty of things to do nearby with young children. As for the barn itself, there are not enough superlatives! Lucia is also a fantastic host. Fully recommended!

Lucia is an amazing host, at this truly adorable place to stay. The interiors are meticulously appointed, and can be enjoyed as a romantic escape or small family break. The location is fantastic, never more than 30 minutes from an array of amazing beaches in all directions, and with THE most amazing village pub! You a greeted by a very generous welcome basket, complimented by an array of ice cream from the local Salcombe dairy. The accommodation is immaculate, with the bathroom stocked with top quality pampering products. A private hot tub just adds to the indulgent CW. My small tribe will be back to enjoy Lucia and her hospitality in the not too distant future.

What an amazing weekend! My three sons and I stayed in the airstream which was very comfortable and fun for the boys. The location is idyllic and the hospitality of Lucia and Dan matches this special place. The wood fired hot tub created an amazing atmosphere under the stars. Lucia, Dan and their wonderful children went the extra mile to make our boys weekend truly memorable. We will return but I think our boys only trip will become a family one 😉😂
