🏡 Self-Catering Cottage

Beech Cottage

South Lanarkshire

Beech Cottage sits within woodland on the Douglas Estate, where open countryside stretches in all directions and the Southern Upland Way—Scotland's coast to coast long-distance path—runs close by. Walking trails start from the door, making this an obvious choice for those planning to tackle sections of the route or simply exploring the surrounding hills and moorland on foot. The setting suits anyone drawn to countryside pursuits: hill walking, fishing, wildlife watching and bird-spotting all happen locally. Biggar is a few miles away for shops, pubs and restaurants, while Edinburgh and Glasgow are within reach for days out.

The cottage is arranged on a single level and sleeps six across three bedrooms, each with a zip-and-link super king bed (convertible to twin singles). Two bathrooms serve the property—one ensuite to the master bedroom. The open-plan living and dining room has French doors onto a sitting area, a woodburner for cooler evenings, and a Freeview TV. The kitchen is equipped for self-catering, with electric cooker, dishwasher, microwave and washer dryer. Heating and hot water run on electricity; wood for the burner is provided to start with. Wi-Fi, bed linen and towels are included. There is parking for two cars on site.

The cottage occupies part of a courtyard within the estate grounds. A small stream runs through the woodland nearby, unfenced. The property draws its water from a spring on the estate. Non-smokers only.
