Winlocke Cottage

Two traditional miners' cottages have been joined into one substantial property in rural Dumfries and Galloway. Winlocke Cottage now offers four bedrooms across two floors, accommodating eight guests comfortably. Ground level has two bedrooms with single beds and a second living space with a woodburner and Smart TV, alongside a separate shower room. Upstairs, two further bedrooms with king-size beds overlook the surrounding countryside. Two bathrooms in total means mornings are less chaotic when numbers are high.

The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking proper meals—electric oven, hob, dishwasher, microwave and all the usual kit—with a breakfast area attached. Bed linen and towels come as standard, along with wi-fi and heating. One dog stays free, and there is an enclosed garden at the rear and parking for four cars on site. No smoking inside.

This is the kind of base that works equally well for a large family gathering or a group of friends wanting space to spread out yet remain together. The village setting is quiet, though a local pub serves food nearby, and the Museum of Lead Mining lies within reach. You are also only a short drive from the M74 motorway, putting Glasgow and Edinburgh within an hour.
