Samlesbury Hall is a medieval country estate near Preston that draws visitors for its history, gardens and year-round events. The three huts here are locally made timber buildings set within those grounds, sleeping up to 12 people across 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Each hut has a living area and bedroom with bunk beds (double on bottom, double above), plus an en-suite shower and toilet. There are three steps up to each hut. The property is yours entirely—no shared facilities or other guests in your huts—with parking on site and wi-fi throughout.
There is no kitchen, but a restaurant operates on the grounds. Electricity, bed linen and towels are included. A shared firepit and seating area sit outside for use by guests. The wider estate offers plenty to do without leaving: a driving range and crazy golf, a bee centre, an adventure trail and playground, plus tours of the Hall itself and various seasonal entertainment. The landscaped gardens are accessible too. The location works for groups of families, friends or work parties who want their own space but don't want to cook. No smoking is permitted in the huts.

Lovely place for a short getaway. Even though it rained, we sat outside under giant umbrellas, fire going, bbq cooling and toasting marshmallows. Totally away from it all (without actually being that far!). We saw wild deer too which the children loved. We will be back.

We stayed in a bright yellow shepherd’s hut on New Year’s Eve. The location was great and the hut was spot on! We were really lucky that the family in the next hut had a little girl the same age as ours, so they played all night. We’d ordered a fire pit which had been forgotten, but the friendly, helpful man on reception brought it to us after he’d finished work an hour later. The huts are grouped together in two or three huts to a group, and the groups are well spaced out so even though guests in other huts were gathered around their own fire pits and some playing music, we couldn’t really hear them. We went for a walk in the dark, which the kids enjoyed, and found the lit up playground area - We also had a look around the outside of Samlesbury Hall in the dark (which maybe we weren’t really supposed to do), which was spooky and beautiful! I’m sure we’ll be back again in 2026.

We stayed for one night at The Hamlet, Samlesbury Hall, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. The huts were spotless, beautifully presented, and incredibly cozy. The entire site and grounds are stunning, immaculately kept, and surrounded by beautiful scenery. Each hut was fully equipped with clean bedding, towels, tea and coffee, and fire pits, which really added to the experience. The heating made the huts warm and comfortable, creating a lovely, homely feel. We were greeted by Anthony at reception, who was extremely friendly and welcoming. He made sure we knew we could contact him at any time if we needed anything, which was very reassuring. The grounds were absolutely beautiful, with a lovely park where the children could play freely. As a family, we felt completely safe letting the kids run around and enjoy themselves, which made the stay even more relaxing for us. We stayed as a large family group of 15 across five huts, and it worked perfectly for us. The setting was ideal, the atmosphere was relaxing, and the cost was very reasonable for such a high-quality stay. We will definitely be returning and would highly recommend The Hamlet to anyone looking for a beautiful, comfortable, and memorable stay. Thanks again and see you again soon!

Very cosy hut, it retained heat well, the bathroom was more than adequate with a great shower. Beds very comfortable with lovely linen. There's no room for cooking facilities so pray the weather is nice, have a barbecue or drive to Mellor to a pub. Or try Taylor's chippy which is 5 mins drive away. My 4 year old daughter loved the play area. Great location, the staff who we saw were very friendly. The only negative was the weather but we went in February 🤣🤣 We might come back here later in the year.
