About Prince of Wales Hotel Southport
With 142 rooms spread across four floors, the Prince of Wales Hotel Southport occupies a landmark building on Lord Street, right in the centre of town. Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms and drinks, and family and accessible rooms are available, with a lift serving all floors. Maintenance is a little inconsistent, so the finish of individual rooms can vary, but the rooms themselves are generously sized and staff are consistently described as helpful and friendly.
The hotel has its own restaurant and bar, along with a garden and meeting rooms for those combining business with leisure. Breakfast is included, though it doesn't always hit the mark, and guests wanting more choice will find plenty of pubs, bars and restaurants close by on and around Lord Street. Free WiFi is available throughout, and pets are welcome.
Southport itself offers golf and fishing nearby, along with entertainment options within easy reach. On-site parking is available for a charge, making the hotel a straightforward base for exploring the town and the wider Merseyside area.

What guests say
Beds are rock hard and lift is to small for the amount of rooms in the hotel. I was supposed to have a family room with a double and single bed. I got a room with 3 single beds and no electric socket at neither beds. They moved be to a room with a double bed and electric socket but no window. Also had to pay £6 a day to park at the hotel. Grounds and position of the hotel were very good.

The location of this hotel was amazing very central. The lobby was very welcoming. Receptionist was fabulous. Car park was full lucky to get a space after 9pm. The room and bathroom was clean. Tea and coffee facilities. There was a very weird wardrobe that looked terrible with a lock on, very out of place. I presume we were at the back of the hotel on the 3rd floor. We really enjoyed listening to a pub/clubs music til near 3am at the back. People shouting and screaming! This really put a dampener on our stay. We did early check out to get home.

First time staying here. Limited parking on site, plenty of space’s available on arrival, £6 for 24 hours. All staff were helpful & friendly. We arrived around 12pm & could check in. Food really nice, good choice, had dinner & breakfast. Hotel overall was lovely as was the room but, the downside to the room, it was at the side of the lift. Quite noisy, people coming in at 2am, really loud. Managed to get to sleep after that but woken again at 5.55am by the lift being used again

Stayed for one night with breakfast included. The hotel location is really good, and although parking is difficult to find, if you manage to get a spot in the hotel car park it costs £6 for 24 hours. Staff were okay — I didn’t interact with them much, but no issues there. Now for the rooms and everything else… the word “clean” does not exist in this place. The entire hotel desperately needs refurbishing ASAP. Everything feels extremely old and dirty. The corridors smelled like sewage mixed with strong air fresheners, which made it even worse. The room was filthy from ceiling to floor. The photos were taken before we even brought our luggage in. There was dust everywhere, corners full of dirt, someone’s false eyelashes left in the bathroom corner, dog hair all over the room and bathroom, and mould waiting for us in the shower. I asked to change rooms but was told there were no rooms available. To make things worse, the heating was on despite it being +26°C outside. I asked if it could be turned off and was told it was impossible, though they could offer a fan. Windows only open slightly because wooden blocks are screwed into the frame, so the room became unbearably hot and we were sweating all night. Breakfast the next morning was another shock. Nearly every glass I picked up had someone else’s lipstick marks on it. I had to put aside around 10–12 glasses before finding one clean enough to use. Forks and knives were disgustingly dirty too. The food itself wasn’t tasty either. Would not recommend spending your money here.
