About Royal Clifton Hotel

Facing Southport's promenade, the Royal Clifton Hotel puts guests right where the town meets the coast, with Albert Dock among the nearby points of interest and the seafront on the doorstep. It's a straightforward base for exploring the Merseyside coastline, whether that means a walk along the prom or venturing further afield.

Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, drinks and the option of accessible accommodation, though some rooms show their age and could do with sprucing up. Staff are consistently described as friendly and professional, and the restaurant serves generous hot meals with plenty of choice, alongside packed lunches for days out. Guests also have use of an indoor swimming pool, gym and spa or sauna, plus a bridal suite and meeting rooms for events, with laundry and luggage storage covering the practical side of a stay.

Beyond the hotel, the area offers golf, fishing, horse riding and walking, along with pubs, restaurants and entertainment nearby. It suits visitors who want comfort and convenience on the seafront without needing everything to be brand new.

Room had dated decor seemed to have stains on the carpet in the room and throughout the hotel. Hairdryer did not work had to use a fan to keep the room cool. Bathroom was small and there was not enough space to get showered properly. Bed was basic and found it just about to be comfortable. Great location as Lord Street is around the corner, the Marine Lake is over the road and is about a ten minute walk from Ocean Plaza the fair and the beach

The location was fantastic right next to the lake and not far from the shops and restaurants. The staff were friendly and professional, the room was a great size and was good value for money and very clean. View from our room was lovely. Decor is dated, but didn't stop us enjoying our stay.
