About Lee Valley Caravan Park, Dobbs Weir
Lee Valley Caravan Park occupies a peaceful bend of the River Lee at Dobbs Weir, roughly thirteen miles east of St Albans and within easy reach of Hertford and Hatfield. Run by the Lee Valley Regional Park Authority, this well-established site takes tents, tourers and motorhomes across a mix of grass and hardstanding pitches, plus wigwam pods and safari tents for those after a little more shelter. Visitors consistently praise the helpful staff, the secluded riverside setting and the abundance of wildlife along the water's edge.
Fishing is available directly from the site, and the Lee Valley towpath runs in both directions for walkers and cyclists, with bike hire on-site to explore further. A pub and marina sit within easy walking distance. Modern facilities include hot showers, a small shop and a playground for younger children, and dogs are welcome throughout.
The location gives straightforward access to other Lee Valley attractions—White Water Centre, country parks towards Essex—while remaining handy for St Albans and Hertfordshire's heritage sites. A few reviews note occasional confusion over accommodation descriptions, so it's worth checking exact pod specifications when booking.

Blatantly mis-sold accommodation. Advertised as a one-bedroom with a hot tub, but we were given a basic studio with no hot tub at all. Nothing like the pictures. Reception were completely unhelpful and just blamed Booking.com and Hoseasons instead of taking responsibility. False advertising and awful service. Avoid.

This place used to be a lovely campsite with pitches all along the canal side as well as what it has now and lovely views. It's a shame an that not only did they allow an ugly static caravan park take up the whole of the canal side and views but then an industrial park the size of London was allowed to move in next door and pollute the whole place. I can't believe EH were never involved. This isn't the campsite's fault but what is their fault and the reason for the review is they're super expensive for what you get, which isn't much, the site is full of poo which they don't bother to clean up, any feedback is not taken and they just shout you down. Most of the staff are rude with the exception of the two guys that do most of the work. And to top it off despite registering my car and motorhome for the 14-day/night stay, I was given a ticket for my car coming in and out of the site and the staff told me it was my fault for not registering the car, you'll have to pay it.
