Stonesthrow Townhouse
Staffordshire Moorlands
View on Google MapsLeek is a working market town in the Staffordshire Moorlands, with bakeries, independent shops and pubs within walking distance, and the Peak District within reach for walks. Stonesthrow Townhouse sits in the heart of it, a recently renovated property that sleeps six across three bedrooms and one bathroom.
The ground floor has a living room with woodburner and smart TV, plus a kitchen with electric oven and gas hob for cooking proper meals. Upstairs, a king bedroom and bathroom with roll-top bath and separate shower occupy the first floor; two double bedrooms are on the second floor. One dog stays free. An enclosed courtyard with seating looks out from the back. Essentials like heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are included; there is also a travel cot and highchair if needed. The property is non-smoking.
It suits families or groups wanting town-centre access rather than isolation—a pub is within a mile, and Leek's leisure centre with swimming pool is a short walk away. The Peak District's walking trails are close by, and Alton Towers is a 20-minute drive if that appeals.

Recently stayed here with family and my lab and had the most fantastic time. We felt really looked after and the bonus of a Ninja air fryer was just perfect. Loved the little extra touches throughout the accommodation and the well thought out information provided which saved us a lot of time and really added to the experience, I could even catch up on a bit of work whilst the games provided kept everyone else thoroughly entertained during a downpour - fabulous little gem with a brilliant central location

We booked this townhouse as 3 adults, 1 child/teenager and a petite labrador. Booked through a fb site for last minute pet and dog-friendly holiday cottages. Full disclosure...we were so disappointed that we started looking for somewhere else after first night but ended up having to return home anyway due to a family member falling seriously ill. However, we felt it was still important to review our stay to avoid future visitors being disappointed. We explained we had to go home to the host due to family illness and asked if she'd be willing to provide a partial refund but unfortunately this was not possible. We did not contest this as we understand businesses rely on Ts&Cs - fair enough and full price paid. Our review of the accommodation is as follows and would have been the same regardless of situation... 1. Accommodation positives..location very central for shops, pubs, restaurants etc . Bedrooms were actually good size (especially top floor). First floor bedroom has king size bed...too big for the space as tricky to move around the room. 2. On entering the lounge (straight into it from street) the CARPET, cushions, and fabric sofa showed obvious signs of dirty marks. 3. Accommodation promoted for up to 6 people but 4 of us struggled to sit comfortably in the lounge to watch tv without getting a crick in our necks. No room for our wee dog so she had to lie behind the sofa...this is not exactly dog friendly if you're a fan of spending couch cuddles with your mych loved family pet. We had to walk over dog's bed to access kitchen as space so narrow. TV was all app controlled- doable but not ideal. We ended up watching tv in upstairs bedroom as more space there for 4 of us plus our pup. Lounge only had one broken dull lamp or 'the big light' which showed up the marks even more. 4. Kitchen was ok. Bit dated for a 'newly refurbished ' townhouse. No blinds in kitchen so very bright and very hot with sun battering through window. 5. Courtyard was dirty and TINY with our dog unable to lie down in it. No privacy with onlookers from all directions. Lights outside didn't work either. 6. Bathroom was best room space wise in the house. However there were half used products in there such as roll-on deodorant and toothpaste and body lotion...no idea how long they'd been there. 7. Bedrooms mostly fine but again no blinds so limited privacy. 8. Fake plants EVERYWHERE...101 to be precise! If you're a fan great but they took up alot of space and made the place dark. In summary...this accommodation is ok if you just want a base to sleep but if you want to spend family then forget it as there's not enough space. Improvements could be made with lighter walls, cleanable floors and furniture, less fake plants, reed diffusers that have fragrance in them, not dried up empty ones, decluttering of used bathroom toiletries, blinds for privacy and blocking out strong light. This Is by far the poorest accommodation we have been in, mostly with regards to lack of space. Needs RE refurbished and thought out better. Hate to think of 6 people in there with multiple pets 🙈🙈🙈. Would definitely not recommend. Lastly their little info book requested guests only leave 5 star reviews. That's just not at all possible when they're promoting a newly refurbished townhouse with space for 6 and numerous pets...that's just not accurate do we're unable to leave a more positive review as we definitely didn't get what we thought we'd paid for.

Beautiful townhouse located in the heart of the town. Tastefully decorated inside with all the mod cons you need for your stay. Well equipped kitchen and lovely extra touches such as fresh bread and cookies and a basket in the toilet with essentials incase you forgot anything. Beds and pillows comfortable and bedrooms spotless. Lovely enclosed back seating area, secure for the dog. Dog well catered for too. Home from home feeling. Will definitely be returning. Thanks for letting us stay at Stonethrow.

This was perfect for our first visit to Leek. It's a great central location so we could explore all the pubs. Lovely comfortable beds. The owners are really helpful and there's lots of information about the house and the area. Very dog friendly. Would definitely come back again.
