The campsites closest to Castle Combe Circuit in Wiltshire, with touring parks and glamping within ten miles and what to check before booking a race weekend.

Castle Combe Circuit is a fast, old-fashioned track on a former wartime airfield in north Wiltshire, a mile or so from the village of the same name and about five miles from Chippenham. It runs car and motorcycle race meetings, track days and large car-club shows through the season, and because the village is tiny and has only a handful of rooms, a lot of visitors camp. This guide lists the campsites closest to the circuit and the larger parks a short drive away. The full list is on our Castle Combe camping page.

How camping for the circuit works

Castle Combe is a much smaller venue than Silverstone or Donington, and there is no ring of pop-up race campsites around it. Most people stay at ordinary farm and touring sites in the villages nearby and drive in on the day. That means booking early for the big dates: the nearest sites are small, and a busy race meeting or a major car show fills them. Whether the circuit itself offers paddock or overnight camping depends on the event, so ask the organiser when you buy a ticket.

The closest campsites

The Delkin is the nearest site we list, a few minutes from the circuit, with tent pitches and glamping and a 5.0 rating from its first reviews. Plough Lane Caravan Site, about four miles away on the Chippenham side, takes tents, caravans and motorhomes, has electric hook-ups and is rated 4.4 from over 330 Google reviews. Bella's Thoroughfare is a small site for tents and motorhomes rated 4.9.

Within about ten miles

Piccadilly Caravan Park takes tents and tourers with electric hook-ups and is rated 4.6 from nearly 300 reviews. North of the circuit, Tetbury Camping at the Holford Arms is a pub campsite with tent and caravan pitches and glamping, rated 4.5 from almost 600 reviews, and near Malmesbury Whychurch Farm has tent, caravan and motorhome pitches with hook-ups, plus glamping. Towards Bath, Lansdown Campsite takes tents, caravans and motorhomes.

Glamping and adults-only sites

Campwell Woods near Marshfield has glamping pods and lodges, rated 4.9. Woodside Field Motorhome Park is a quiet adult-only touring site that accepts dogs, and Great Ashley Farm near Bradford-on-Avon has adult-only shepherd's huts in private woodland.

What to check before booking

Arrival times. Small farm sites often have a fixed check-in window, which matters if you are leaving the circuit late. Trailers and race vehicles. If you are competing or bringing a car on a trailer, ask whether the site can take it; many pitches are sized for a tent and one car. Noise rules. Family and adult-only sites usually have a quiet time in the evening. Minimum stays. Summer weekends often carry a two-night minimum.

Making a weekend of it

Castle Combe itself is regularly described as one of the prettiest villages in England and takes an hour to walk round. Chippenham is the nearest town for shops and the railway, Corsham and Malmesbury are both worth half a day, and Bath is about half an hour away by car.
