Garrique Cottage

Photo: garrique

Garrique Cottage is a single-storey detached house on a working farm close to Stirling, within reach of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. The whole property is yours alone, sleeping six across three bedrooms and two bathrooms, with the added draw that dogs stay free—up to two are welcome. Everything runs on one level, which makes it straightforward for families with young children or anyone preferring to avoid stairs.

Ground floor living spaces include an open-plan kitchen, dining and sitting area with French doors onto a terrace and lawned garden; a separate sitting room with a wood burner and Smart TV; and a utility room housing a washing machine and tumble dryer. The kitchen is properly equipped for cooking—electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher, microwave and slow cooker are all there. Bedrooms range from a super kingsize with an ensuite to two singles and a bunk bed. The main bathroom has a bath with shower and there's a second toilet. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and heating are included, along with initial logs for the burner.

The 400-acre grounds offer woodland walks, streams and grassland shared with the owner; you'll find a shared hard tennis court on the property too. Private parking takes three cars, and an electric vehicle charging point is on site. The cottage draws water from a borehole and sits near a stream about 40 yards from the garden. No smoking or vaping inside. Ramp access can be arranged on request.

Beautiful place to stay. Photos don't do it justice. Also owner left a pot of home made honey 🍯 Fabulous for the dog for walks around the river that runs through the garden/ wooded area. Owner also supplied the logs for log burner, which was lovely as we have always had to buy them when stayeding at other holiday homes. We stayed last week in October. Went to a local farm for pumpkin picking 🎃 would definitely recommend!

It has been six years since we stayed at Carrique Cottage. We selected the cottage as a central point for five days while we toured Stirling, Glasgow, Calzean Castle, Dumbarton Castle, the Trossachs national park and Loch Lomond. They were all an easy day tour from the cottage. the cottage is 5 miles from Gargunnock for an easy non-congested drive for dinner at the Gargunnock Inn and stocking the kitchen for breakfast and lunch at the Gargunnock village store. The pictures posted reflect the serenity of the site. the sunrises were spectacular while we were there! I definitely recommend this cottage if you want to get out of the hustle and bustle of the city. The WiFi was acceptable and the accommodations were clean and comfortable; and the hostess was charming and very accommodating. Again, this posting covers a period 6 years ago but I just ran across it while re-tracing our vacation.
