🏡 Self-Catering Cottage

Higher Capstone Farm Cottages - Kinder

Photo: Claire Walker

Higher Capstone Farm Cottages - Kinder sits on elevated farmland at Cobden Edge, a working property where the landscape stretches toward the Peak District and Manchester plains. The cottage is a complete holiday home for four guests, with two bedrooms (one double, one king-size), a bathroom with walk-in shower, and a ground-floor layout that keeps everything on one level. The open-plan living space centres on a woodburner, with a separate kitchen equipped for self-catering and a dining area where you can settle in after exploring outdoors.

The essentials are covered: electricity, wi-fi, bed linen and towels are included, plus the first load of logs for the stove. Underfloor heating and an air-source heat pump mean the cottage stays warm throughout the year. You have private parking for two cars and a bike store if you're bringing cycles for the surrounding trails. The property doesn't permit smoking inside.

What sets this place apart is the shared wood-fired hot tub—a genuine draw after a day's walking—and the direct access to moorland, woodland and the Peak District's network of paths. Marple Bridge, Marple and New Mills are each around 10 minutes' drive, with shops and restaurants if you want to venture out. The quiet lane location means it genuinely feels like a retreat, though you're never far from supplies or a proper town.

Booked via AIR BNB and wow! What a beauty. The views were incredible and the accommodation was perfect and clean. Greeted by host Micheal who showed as around. We stayed in the 1 bed and had the hot tub to ourselves. A lovely couples break, loved the indoor fire. Everything was perfect. Would love to come back

We stayed here for two nights and honestly we wish we had booked it for longer. The views here are absolutely stunning! The apartment is outstanding. Beautiful rooms, beautiful surroundings. Very peaceful and tranquil. The hosts were so nice, friendly and helpful. They provided us with a small bottle of milk. The place is situated at the top of a long single road up a hill. It's not really walkable to any shops. Everything you could need to cook is available in the kitchen. Towels and bedding provided. Including separate towels for the hot tub. It's a wood fired hot tub so it takes a while to heat up. A really lovely place, highly recommend.

Stunning location with breathtaking views. The cottages are clean and comfortable with all mod cons, and the owners are warm and friendly. We will definitely be returning and would highly recommend it to others.
