Popped in spontaneously for a meal and to let the kids burn off some energy in the soft play section. The good... Bar staff were good and welcoming 🙏 The soft play seemed cleaner than others (and the mess found in the empty "pit" was quickly cleaned up) The rest... From the beginning: Walked in and the soft play was un-manned, the "out" gate was swinging around and wouldn't secure shut. We waited a few minutes before seating ourselves (impatient kids and all). 2 adults went to the bar to get drinks and the 3rd stayed for supervision and only about 10 minutes later did a member of staff appear and abruptly said "you haven't paid or signed in with me have you?" Right yep, fair enough but there was no one available (and it was not busy by any means). She was asked to wait a few moments as the adult with the bank card was at the bar. Before the 2 returned from the bar even had a chance to talk to the 3rd, the member of staff was over with plastic cups telling us no glass and you need to come and pay. At this point it was noted that at least 2 other tables had glassware on them. Fast forward to food, ordered 2x veggie carvery, 2x normal, 1x kids cheese & tomato pizza. Veggie Wellingtons came out with raw pastry. Kids pizza was tomato puree on a microwaveable base, garlic bread burnt to a crisp. We asked to exchange the meal to be told we would have to pay for another due to "stock levels" and "does she not even want the garlic bread". My god I wish I had taken pictures because its not food I'd even feed to a pig. Luckily the kid was happy to share veggies and bits from the adult's plate but when we asked for a spare plate to do such a thing, we were given a dirty look and then the requested plate was half dropped on the table in front of the child. No offer of refund, replacement or even a hint of an apology. As for the rest of the carvery: being told (upon having already served ourselves - again no staff around or previously told us different) that the yorkie puds were a chargeable extra, was laughable. Half the veg had clearly not been refreshed and had been left on the hot plate/under the lights far too long (fantastic when it is fly season), roasties resembled rocks. Cauliflower cheese lacked any cheese. I personally cannot comment on the meat as I am vegetarian, but no plates were empty. The only reason we would come back is for the children's area and would ensure that we had full stomachs before hand.

Thought wed give the Sunday Carvery a try as Toby has to got to greedy with his prices so we voted with our feet and give this place wurl. Staff were great, showed us straight to our table which was wheelchair accessible as requested when we booked online. The carvery was great value for money. Good choices and cooked to perfection. Really good family atmosphere in there too, TV’s in the booths to entertain the kids. All good! I would recommend.

Food not great and started to be served as we were still arriving even though no-one was late. Steak was supposed to be med-wd yet arrived not cooked to any one type.

Good food and great value for money. There is a children's play area next door so it's perfect for the children to have a run around while the parents finish their drinks. Sometimes with cheaper meals they can be quite bland but not these; I had the mixed grill and it was spot on. We used the app for table service and it was nice and easy and meant we didn't have to queue either. Service was a bit lukewarm otherwise it would have rated higher. All in all, we got two adult meals, two children meals, drinks and two ice creams. With the £5 off voucher, it came to £37.50. Good value and somewhere we will return to.

People say this pub offers delicious food, including carvery and dishes like pork tomahawk and sizzling katsu chicken, all at a great value, with a friendly atmosphere and attentive staff.

Other reviews mention the portions can be small and the food can be cold.
