Billow Farm Annexe

Photo: Kim Hodgson

Step through the door of Billow Farm Annexe and you're in a ground-floor living room dominated by an open fireplace. The dining room leads through to a properly equipped kitchen—cooker, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer all present—so you can cook real meals rather than reheat. Upstairs via traditional cottage stairs, three bedrooms sleep six: two doubles and a third room with single beds accessed through one of them. The bathroom has both a bath and a separate shower cubicle. It's a 17th-century farmhouse wing, refurbished more recently, with low beamed ceilings and period character alongside modern heating and plumbing.

The property sits at the end of a country lane near Breadstone in rural Stroud, close to Berkeley Castle. An enclosed garden with furniture offers outdoor space, and there's parking for four cars on site. Wifi, heating, bed linen and towels are all included; if you visit in the colder months, the initial fuel for the fire is too. The farm itself is now a commercial livery yard, and the location puts you within reach of Slimbridge, the Cotswolds, Gloucester, and various sporting events at Cheltenham and Badminton. The nearest shop is three miles away, a pub two miles. Note that the stairs are steep and narrow.

Probably the best place we have ever stayed at in England. Rural, quiet and charming. Hazel is an angel

This was the perfect cosy cottage in a great location for discovering the Cotswolds. There is plenty of space although there were only 3 of us. The kitchen is large and well equipped. The dining room is a lovely space to relax. We loved the open fire and comfy settees. The heating worked well, we were cosy and warm. The beds and bedrooms were comfortable. We really enjoyed ourselves and would highly recommend.

Quaint annex building. Very clean. Surrounded by fields and footpaths although a working livery very quiet and peaceful.
