About Henny Riverside Camping

Tucked beside the River Stour just ten minutes from Sudbury, Henny Riverside Camping offers the rare combination of waterside tranquility and active pursuits. This intimate, family-run site features cosy wooden pods sleeping two, each with a queen-sized bed, kitchenette (fridge/freezer, toaster, kettle), ensuite shower, and floor-to-ceiling glass doors opening onto a private terrace—perfect for morning coffee or alfresco suppers. Step outside and you're moments from the riverbank, ideal for launching a kayak or casting a line, while bike hire lets you explore the peaceful Suffolk countryside beyond.

With a communal barbecue, firepit, and a well-regarded gastropub practically next door (booking essential), you're sorted whether you fancy cooking or being cooked for. The site runs on solar power, so the owners ask guests to be mindful during high-demand times—occasional power blips are possible but part of the off-grid charm. Dogs are welcome year-round, and facilities include spacious showers, recycling, and chemical disposal. It's a modest, eco-conscious spot that delivers genuine riverside peace without sacrificing comfort.

Stayed in the pod for 3 nights with our little doggo. It was fantastic. The staff were great! Friendly, warm and our dog loved them. They responded quickly to a small issue we had. And while not on site all the time, we bumped into them every day of our stay. The pod is so peaceful. Great views and so much wildlife. It was a great break away from the tv. And wifi available if you need to keep up with email. We will be going back!

Great campsite. We stayed in the pod, it was lovely and well stocked with everything you would need. The pub next door offers great food and drink and was very welcoming. Thanks for having us!

This campsite has all the amenities necessary for a relaxed break. I am staying in a campervan alongside my niece in a tent. The toilets , washing up area, and shower are clean and functional. Lighting is good. It's nice not to have too many lit areas, as it allows for star gazing and plane spotting. There is abundant wildlife. We saw a muntjac, lots of rabbits , kites, other birds of prey and a range of small songbirds. It was good to know the site manager was available over the phone , and great that we could camp independently of any supervision. Water supply and electric points were conveniently placed. Pitches are a good size. My tip is to bring sturdy tent pegs as the ground is very stony. The local pub served excellent meals and was very friendly. Local walks are beautiful and suit a range of abilities. The river nearby offered excellent paddle board hire, and access for board owners . (Portage points around the weirs were well signposted and accessible.) I highly recommend this site.
