About Old Waterworks Boutique Glamping
Tucked away at the end of an ancient drovers' road near Clare, this one-acre glamping retreat occupies the site of an Edwardian waterworks, complete with natural spring and gorgeous views over the East Anglian countryside. Hosts Ben and Netty have embraced the industrial heritage, upcycling original features while creating cosy, comfortable accommodation – each unit has proper beds, bedding and hot water bottles, plus access to a communal kitchen and well-appointed showers. One seating area nestles inside an old filtration pit, a sheltered spot perfect for soaking up the peaceful atmosphere.
With just a handful of pitches, the site feels wonderfully remote despite being a 15-minute stroll from Clare's restaurants, pubs and independent shops. Campfires are allowed, barbecue packs can be purchased, and an honesty shop covers drinks and snacks. Footpaths radiate directly from the gates onto trails along the River Stour, making this a genuine walkers' paradise and wildlife haven where background noise barely registers.
