Ashen Equestrian : Mac Shack Stable

Photo: Google Maps

Built as stables and renovated in 2020, Mac Shack Stable stands on the Ashen Equestrian Centre near Sudbury, on the Essex-Suffolk border. The entire ground-floor property is yours alone, accessed via a short stepped path. Two bedrooms, each with an ensuite bathroom and a zip-and-link bed that can split into twins, face a large open-plan living and dining area with doors to a decked terrace. The kitchen comes fully equipped for cooking, with a dishwasher and washer-dryer included.

An enclosed garden wraps around the front with a patio area and barbecue, plus a separate yard shower room for rinsing off muddy boots and paws. One dog stays free. Essentials like bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and heating are provided, and there's private parking for two cars, with a shared EV charging point on site. The Essex Gliding Club lies nearby for those interested in that side of things. No smoking indoors.

Arriving after 4pm, you're close enough to pubs and the small historic market town of Clare for an evening out, or you can settle in on the terrace as the sun sets. The Stour Valley countryside spreads out around you.

Fascinating and fun learning on Strider with Becky Chapman at Ashen Equestrian centre. Will be back in the New Year.

Becky Chapman is a caring and adaptable coach who joins clients in their world and helps them sort out their challenges. Non-prescriptive and effective - definitely to be considered if you are unsure how to move forward.
