I recently stayed at this hotel with my wife for her birthday and we had a lovely time. The room was fantastic with amazing views. My wife enjoyed a massage at the hotel from India. We also ate at the hotel’s restaurant where the food was delicious. The staff were attentive and friendly. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it.

Great lunch in the conservatory, even managed to grab a better table so all of us could enjoy the view across the bay. No real ale on tap as they were charging supplier and the barrel hadn't settled. Situation redeemed by the barman who retrieved a couple of bottles from the cellar. Why do people put real ale bottles on the cooler, they're supposed to be kept at about 10c not 5c.

We love visiting Swanage and staying at The Grand. This time was no exception. A sea view room is a must and ours was lovely. These days guests are asked whether they want the room to be serviced which we did but ran out of toiletries which were replenished the next morning on request. The hotel has bee refurbished recently and is beautifully bright. We ate in the conservatory on two nights out of three which has beautiful commanding views of Swanage bay as does the dining room for breakfast. Parking is at a premium with only a few spaces but nearby roads have space. A relaxing and restorative stay .....it was hard to leave as the weather was stunning. We will return.

Everyone in the hotel is miserable! We checked in last night and the service was painfully slow. We informed her we were in a rush, which only seemed to slow her down. We had to have a demonstration on how to use the door - which honesty we didn't need its only a key card access. We went to breakfast this morning and it was like the staff were at a funeral and we were an inconvenience. We requested a table for three, and the lady led us to a table before she said "no that one" and batted a menu in the direction of another table. I appreciate we booked this last minute as we had a mess up with another booking, but its really not worth the money. The rooms are nice but nothing to write home about - the walls are scuffed, the furniture is IKEA flat packed and chipped, and curtains are virtually useless. Ive mentioned in the safety section, but our friends room didnt have any mechanism to allow her to lock her door from the inside which made her feel uneasy. We did have a chain on the back of our door at least. The breakfast is mediocre, but we are grateful they had a vegetarian breakfast. Check out is 11, but the spa doesn't open until 10.15 so we didnt get to utilise it this morning. If this was four in a bed, for the "would you stay here again?" I'd be circling "no" quite vigorously.
