What visitors say
We visit regularly, as group ranging between 8-15 in number, with kids and a mix of vans and tents. The site can be a little noisy at times as it is popular with groups and young folk. It’s also a pretty straight forward set up, but we’ve always found the facilities clean and convenient. We don’t own a motorhome, and I’d suggest that perhaps there are better options for those vehicles, but for our simple camping needs the site has everything we wanted in close proximity, as well as a basic bar, with a big screen TV (if you’re following the World Cup as we were). If you want high end facilities and all mod cons, there are more expensive options elsewhere. The onsite bell tents have a prime location and a wonderful view. The hard standings are basic. We like simple, clean and laid back. We’re not loud or intrusive, just a group of 40 and 50 something parents with grown up kids, who like to sit round the fire pit and enjoy a few beers, a BBQ and putting the world to rights. If that’s your vibe, then Herston’s is for you too.

Stayed a few nights in an onsite bell tent. Nice and clean, fire pit supplied with free wood on first night. Nice liceneced burger van area with large tv, good value food. Showers and toilets new and well maintained. Will definitely stay again. Recommended

Run down was the best way I can describe this campsite on arrival. It didn't get any better. The campsite is neglected needing a lot of care and attention, lots of weeds and overgrown plants. The toilets were filthy and not cleaned in the three nights we stayed there. Hedges around the hard standing needed cutting back so that we could access the water point. Map that was given to us on arrival was inaccurate as the shop and entertainment area was a demolition site and was an eyesore. Bins were not emptied when full which lead to seagulls in them and when emptied rubbish was still left around the area. No toilet rolls in any of the toilets behind the pop up entertainment area and they were smelly! On the plus side we had nice views of the hills and it was handy for walking into Swanage. We shall not be returning!
