About Holiday Inn Express Swindon City Centre
Bridge Street runs through the centre of Swindon, and Holiday Inn Express Swindon City Centre puts guests right among the shops, restaurants and transport links that make the area easy to explore on foot. It's a practical base for anyone visiting the town, whether for business meetings or simply passing through.
The hotel has 134 rooms across six floors, each with air conditioning, an en-suite bathroom and drinks available in the room, with family and accessible rooms also on offer. A restaurant and bar serve food on site, breakfast is included, and kids' meals are available for those travelling with children. Free WiFi, laundry service and luggage storage cover the practical side of a stay, while meeting rooms suit business travellers. Breakfast choice can be limited at busy times, and the lifts have occasionally proved unreliable, so those on higher floors might prefer to allow extra time.
Beyond the hotel, guests can find a golf course, pubs, restaurants and entertainment nearby, and pets are welcome for those travelling with animals. On-site parking is available for a charge. It's a straightforward, well-placed option for a night or two in Swindon.
What guests say
We had a very disappointing experience in the restaurant and unfortunately would not recommend it. The lady who checked us in was also responsible for cooking all of the meals. She was lovely, friendly and did her best, but it was clear she had been left in a very difficult position. Having to manage reception while cooking for our party of five meant the meals came out one at a time, with up to 30 minutes between each dish, so we were unable to eat together. We were also told there were no burger buns available for the two burger meals, so they were served without buns. The final meal, a lasagne, arrived cold in the middle and was clearly not cooked properly. When we returned to our room, we found the air conditioning wasn’t working. There was no telephone in the room to contact reception, making it difficult to report the issue. Breakfast the following morning was equally disappointing. The hash browns were undercooked, while the bacon was overcooked and very hard. Overall, the staff member we dealt with was pleasant and tried her best, but she appeared to be understaffed and unsupported. Sadly, because of our overall experience, we would not return.

During our one week stay all of the staff that we encountered were friendly and helpful, especially the breakfast attendants! The room was basic with very few "extras" but they did have feather pillows and toiletries available at the front desk upon request. The beds were comfortable. The pillows were very firm (too firm for me but most pillows are so I bring my own). Nobody else in my family thought they were too firm). The ac unit did make a high pitched whining noise that never went away, even after asking maintenance to look at it (we never heard back so not sure if they had a chance to look at it or not. Or if that is just normal for those specific units) but we did eventually adjust to it so it wasn't a big deal. Breakfast was consistent and plentiful and the breakfast staff were so friendly and accommodating! The hotel was a very easy walk to the train station and to coffee in the town centre. Swindon itself was the perfect central location to base our exploration of the surrounding areas out of! We would definitely stay here again!

I had to cancel my stay because I contracted chickenpox, a highly contagious disease. I sent a formal email to the hotel explaining my high fever and physical condition, offering to provide medical certificates. Shockingly, the hotel completely ignored my email and refused my refund request without any consideration. It is incredibly disappointing to see a hotel show such a lack of basic empathy and social responsibility. They would rather risk having a contagious guest than show a bit of flexibility. Avoid this place if you value customer service👎

Booked a superking room for a party we were attending locally got it for a decent rate. We booked well in advance but got cancelled by them two days before attending. Got bumped into the 2 star ibis. Hard beds tiny rooms no iron minimal discount. If I would of booked the ibis at the time I booked holiday inn I would of saved money but didn't because we wanted a bigger room. Will not be back again very poor.
