About Swandown Hotel

Swindon's Victoria Road is home to the Swandown Hotel, a straightforward 15-room B&B handy for transport links and the town's amenities. It's a no-frills base rather than a destination in itself, but it covers the practical essentials for a night or two.

Rooms are simple, with most having en-suite bathrooms, and family and accessible rooms are available alongside drinks in room and free WiFi throughout. A free breakfast is included, and guests can make use of the guest lounge and bar of an evening, with 24 hour reception on hand whatever time you arrive.

Free on-site parking makes driving in straightforward, and there's a golf course, pub, restaurant and other eateries nearby, along with entertainment options in the surrounding area. It's a functional stay geared towards convenience rather than luxury.

The Swandown in Swindon The door won’t open… the bed’s in the way, A game of Tetris at the end of the day. The curtains are thin, so the sunrise clocks in, No need for an alarm – daylight always wins. The electrics occasionally fancy a rest, The fuse board seems convinced it’s being stress-tested. The shower tray fills like a luxury spa, Just don’t expect bubbles… or dolphins… or a bar. There’s dust round the carpet and under the bed, A bedside table that’s slightly battle-scarred instead. The room gets quite toasty, though a fan comes to save, While the windows open just enough to wave. Parking’s a challenge, you’ll need a bit of luck, Finding a space can involve divine intervention and pluck. Friday and Saturday? The streets come alive, If you wanted absolute silence… perhaps don’t arrive! The sign’s lost a letter – it’s gone AWOL somewhere, And the front of the building could use a bit more care. It’s not winning awards for immaculate style… But then neither am I, and I still raise a smile. But here’s why we keep coming back… The management are brilliant – genuinely kind, The sort of lovely people you rarely find. Need a hand? Just ask, they’ll do all they can, Nothing’s too much for this wonderful clan. Whatever they’re cooking should be bottled as scent, I’d happily pay rent just to breathe in the vent! It looks like they’ve freshened the place since last year, And it’s looking much brighter – that’s perfectly clear. Then there’s the price… now that’s hard to beat, Quite simply the best value anywhere on the street. You could spend twice as much somewhere shiny and new, But you’d wonder where half of your money flew. You can stay in a fancy hotel with air con and room service too, Where every room looks exactly like the last forty-two. The carpets all match, the pictures are bland, And you’ll struggle to remember which town you’re in. But the Swandown in Swindon has stories to tell, A bit quirky? Absolutely… and that’s what it does well. It’s got character, charm and a wonderful crew, And somehow it feels like it’s pleased to see you. So yes, there’s a list of things they could improve, And I’m sure they’ll get round to them, nice and smooth. But if I had to choose between perfection and heart, I’d pick this place every single time from the start. Because when all is said, and the poem is through, It’s the people you’ll remember – that’s honestly true. The little faults make us smile now, not frown… We’ll happily stay again at the Swandown.

I went to this hotel to see the room before deciding to book, and the experience was honestly shocking. When I asked to view the room, the guy at the reception responded rudely, saying, Why do you want to see the room if you want to book it? which already set the tone. On top of that, the hotel itself smelled absolutely terrible, making it even less appealing. I told him that he should learn how to speak to customers and that with that kind of attitude, he doesn’t deserve to work there. Instead of handling it professionally, he replied, “I am the owner,” which made the whole situation even worse. Completely unprofessional, disrespectful, and unpleasant. I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone.

The worst experience ever! A 3 night staying become only 1 night! I just left because of the bad conditions! Dirty rooms, dirty toilet, dirty shower, dirty on the hall, dirty everywhere! There was still trash in the bin from the previous reservation, there was hair everywhere, even on the bed where the bed sheets were supposed to be new and cleaned like how it's normal! The door handles were all broken and also from a door was missing an window! I mean I stayed in hostels that were better than this place! The owner was very rude with us when we asked for a refund for the remaining nights but no luck! I didn't expect too much from them considering the price we paid but at least a little bit of decency and respect! I would give less than a star if it was possible but unfortunately is not and I see that because of the 3 stars for the location ( because the location was pretty good) the overall score is higher that this place deserve
