Shewte Farm
Teignbridge
This stone barn dates back centuries and retains its character throughout. High ceilings, a gallery level, and a floor-to-ceiling window frame views across Dartmoor. The owners have furnished it with antiques and quality linens, and underfloor heating warms the open-plan ground floor where a wood burner takes the chill off winter evenings. Three bedrooms—one with two single beds, two with king-size beds—sit on the upper level, alongside two bathrooms with heated towel rails and showers. The kitchen has a range cooker, dishwasher and washer-dryer for longer stays.
You have sole use of the whole property on 80 acres of woodland, fields and streams. Beyond the main house, a games barn holds table tennis and a dartboard, and there is a tree house to explore. The grounds are rich in wildlife—buzzards, deer, otters and skylarks are regular sightings. Walking and cycling on Dartmoor begins on the doorstep; beaches lie ten miles away and the National Trust properties are nearby. The village of Bovey Tracey, with deli, butcher, baker and restaurants, is under two miles distant. One well-behaved pet stays free. Smoking is not permitted indoors.
