The Smithy is a compact log cabin on a smallholding outside Newton Abbot, designed for two guests and their dog. It sits in semi-rural countryside with views across fields, about four miles from the coast. The whole property is yours alone, with private parking for one car and a fully enclosed front garden—useful if you're travelling with pets, as they stay free and have their own secure outdoor space.
Inside, everything is on a single ground floor. The open-plan living area combines kitchen, dining and sitting space, with an electric oven and hob for proper cooking. A sofa bed provides extra sleeping if needed. The bedroom has a kingsize bed and wall-mounted TV, served by an ensuite shower room with heated towel rail. Bed linen, towels, wi-fi and electricity are all included. A decked patio area at the front looks out over the fields—the kind of spot for morning coffee before heading out.
The location works as a base for walks in the South Hams or along the coastal path towards Teignmouth and beyond. Local pubs and restaurants are within reasonable reach. No smoking inside.

Me and my wife have just come back after spending the week at the glamping pods with our dog we felt so welcomed by the owners and have already booked for next year. I would highly recommend staying here.

We had the pleasure of staying in Pod 2 with our two dogs, the pod.was spotlessly clean, well equipped and homely. Debs and Andy were perfect hosts and nothing was to much trouble. The garden was secure and the view beautiful. There was fresh chicken and duck eggs and milk. Would highly recommend and happily give more stars if we could! We will definitely be returning, this is a hidden gem!

We’ve just had a lovely three night stay in pod1. Much more spacious than we expected and plenty of pots, crockery and utensils. Lovely outlook of sheep, grass and ducks and your enclosed ‘garden’ is quite large with a bench plus bbq and zero gravity chairs for chilling on sunny days. So much attention to detail by the friendly owners is what makes these pods stand out. Definitely recommend and will return.
