Newton Abbot sits on the threshold of Dartmoor, and Virginia Cottage puts you right at that boundary. This single-bedroom property is set in 10½ acres of grounds shared with two others, where you're free to explore the natural surroundings, cycle, or simply take in the landscape. The cottage itself is compact: a ground-floor open-plan living and dining area, kitchen with a full range of appliances, and upstairs a double bedroom with an ensuite shower room.
The essentials are covered—heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi included—plus there's laundry facilities (for a small charge), an outdoor sitting area, parking for one car, and a bike store. One dog is welcome at no extra cost. The building runs on solar power and an air source heat pump, drawing on the eco-conscious setup of the whole site. No smoking inside.
From here you can walk onto Dartmoor proper to spot wild ponies and cross ancient bridges, or drive to Castle Drogo, Lydford Gorge, Buckfast Abbey or the coastal towns of Dartmouth and Kingswear. The Cridford Inn is within a mile on foot.
