Another great week at Wooder Manor. Accommodation as always comfortable and clean and friendly. Surroundings are beautiful and peaceful and the night sky amazing. Highly recommended a visit. Pubs within walking distance and also worth a visit. We will be back.

I want to give a fair and balanced review. Wooder Manor is a pleasant stay in the beautiful village of Widdecombe. Due to the proximity to the moors one must accept that mobile phone and Internet access is compromised. However, the landlady is very pleasant and can provide a phone if required. Equally, the roads are very narrow and it can get misty on the moors. The accommodation is rustic, clean, warm and dry. Water is lovely and soft and a hot shower or warm bath are great after a day's walk or cycle. It takes about 48 minutes to get to Torquay or Paignton, with Newton Abbott being the nearest large town. Large supermarkets are in Newton Abbott, with only small grocers in the village. The grounds are very well kept with a barbecue available and washing machines and dryers in a separate location. The television is terrestrial but does play Dvds. This is an ideal place for those who want a holiday where you can forget about city life and relax. Bring some recliners and just sit outside. For the price, you won't get better, especially two bedrooms and a wet room. Yes, some slight tweeks would bring the place up a notch but it gives you what you need. I'd go again. This time I stayed with my two elderly parents, one of whom is wheelchair bound and we managed OK.

Nice place, unpleasant woman When we arrived, we were greeted by the owner telling us that she had hoped to retire by now. I think this might be the best for all concerned. We stayed in Lower Hameldown, which has a shower room. The owner said that the mop and bucket she provided wasn’t up to the job of drying the floor. We suggested getting better equipment. She suggested that I get on my hands and knees and dry the floor with a floor cloth. I stuck with the mop that she provided. She badgered us about the floor another twice during our stay. She didn’t ruin our holiday, but she took the shine off it. My partner is disabled and we felt harassed. She didn’t ask if we were enjoying our holiday. She didn’t suggest places to go. There were no leaflets and no tourism guide in the accommodation. There is no internet access in the accommodation. The access is in the laundry room, which is a separate block on the site. There is no signal for anything, including satnav, so you will need a map.

Highly recommend wooder manor I have been staying here for the last 34 years when we go on holiday . The owners are extremely friendly and will do whatever they can to make your stay a wonderful one . You at a 0.5 mile flat walk to the village of widecombe. Wooder manor is like a little patch of heaven on earth it's very peaceful no phone signal or Wi-Fi which if your getting away from the hustle and bustle of town life is well needed but they do offer internet via a Ethernet cable so ok can plug your laptop in . But I can't recommend this place enough myself and the wife have already decided on the dates for 2019 trips
