Linley Farm Cottages - Meadow View Cottage

Photo: Shamsul Kibria

Meadow View Cottage is a ground-floor property at Linley Farm, converted from the original farm buildings and set within extensive grounds. The single-step entrance opens directly into a living space with sofa bed, television and DVD player, flowing through to a kitchen equipped for everyday cooking. Two bedrooms follow: one with a double bed and en-suite wet room; the other with a pair of bunk beds served by a separate bathroom. Both bathrooms have baths with shower attachments. Heating and hot water are included, along with bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi throughout.

The cottage suits families or groups needing space across two bathrooms. A cot and highchair are available, and one well-behaved pet is welcome. You have use of a patio with garden furniture and access to the 2-acre grounds; laundry facilities (shared with other farm cottages) are on-site. Private parking for two or three cars means no hunting for spaces. The farm location puts you within half an hour's drive of coastal towns including Brightlingsea and Walton-on-the-Naze, while Colchester with its castle and shops is closer still. A shop lies 500 yards away and a pub two miles down the lane. Smoking is not permitted inside the property.

We spent a few nights there with our kids. The surrounding area was massive. My kids loved the area. It was quiet. In the morning, there were rabbits and deers. The owner and his wife were very friendly and caring. A nice getaway from the bsuy London life. Nice sea sides within miles. Water sport and a walking path by the creek.
