What visitors say
I think the concept is fantastic. Both my husband and son thoroughly enjoyed their surf lessons, and the instructors were excellent—friendly, encouraging, and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend it. Yes, it's on the expensive side, but I do feel the overall experience is worth the price. We stayed in our camper in the campsite field. The camping facilities are very basic, with no designated area to wash dishes. We were able to fill our water tank, but it wasn't particularly easy. Considering the cost compared with other campsites, I think the facilities could be improved. We visited during a very hot spell, and there was absolutely no shade around the surf pool for spectators. A few beach umbrellas or some covered seating areas would make a huge difference and allow people to enjoy watching the surfers in comfort. I also felt the café seating area could do with a thorough deep clean. It's a really well-designed space, which makes it even more of a shame. Even when it wasn't busy, we struggled to find a clean table. Overall, we had a great experience and would happily return. With a few improvements to the camping facilities, spectator areas, and café cleanliness, it could be even better.

I visit The Wave Bristol frequently and really enjoy the surfing itself, but I consistently come away with the same frustrations. There are several areas that I think need improving if the venue wants to keep regular surfers coming back. The car park is a major issue. After almost every visit, my car ends up either covered in dust or mud, to the point where I need to get it cleaned afterwards. For a venue that people may be driving a long way to reach, this really lets the overall experience down. The walk from the car park is also ridiculous, especially when carrying a surfboard and kit. It feels like this has not been properly considered from the perspective of someone actually coming to surf. There seems to be no obvious reason why a shuttle system could not be provided, particularly at busy times or for those carrying larger boards. The food offering also feels poor value. It is expensive, but the quality does not match the price. For a sports venue, I would expect better, more practical food options for people who have been in the water and need to refuel, rather than something that feels aimed more at a tourist attraction. The atmosphere can also feel a bit confused. I understand that The Wave is a family-friendly place, but at times it feels like the surfing side is competing with people simply lounging around or treating it as a day-out attraction. As someone going primarily to surf, that can take away from the experience. With a London venue opening in the future, it will become difficult to justify travelling to Bristol unless these issues are improved. The wave itself is great, but the supporting facilities need to better match the needs of regular surfers.

Visited on Sunday for an Improver lesson at the Sister Sessions. What an incredible day. The coaches and other women were so supportive and encouraging. Everyone lifted each other up. The atmosphere was lush! Great DJ, hearty food. Cannot recommend more highly.Thank you to all of the staff at The Wave for a perfect day. I will be back soon!

What can I say, perfect experience. All the staff where friendly, helpful and considerate. Coaches were great the lake was amazing. Food was delicious and free parking. I loved that there was no hidden charges; everything you need in a single price. Just a great day.
