About Fishermans Cot Tiverton by Marstons Inns
Fishermans Cot Tiverton by Marstons Inns is a long, thatched building set beside the river at Bickleigh, the kind of characterful Devon inn built around its waterside setting rather than added to it. The garden and outdoor seating make the most of the position, with the water running close by whichever way you look.
Rooms are en-suite and include family options, each fitted with free WiFi and drinks available in-room. The restaurant and bar serve meals throughout the day, including breakfast and children's menus, and there's a 24 hour reception for guests coming and going at odd hours. Free on-site parking is provided, which makes it an easy stop for those touring the wider area by car. It's worth noting the building's age shows in places, with some upkeep issues reported alongside the otherwise well-regarded rooms and service.
Nearby, there's a golf course, entertainment, and further pubs and restaurants within reach, making it a workable base for exploring Devon beyond the riverbank itself.
What guests say
Delightful and comfortable stay, the food was good and the room pleasantly warm and clean. However the lodgings are beginning to to look very tired. The bathroom in particular, which had a number of defects in the bath panel and the ceiling. The outside of the lodges could do with renovation. However would happily stay again.

We visited the Fisherman's Cot for 2 nights to attend a wedding nearby. The staff were so friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. They really made the experience, as I find it is always about the people. Food was delicious, service prompt, substitutions no bother! All that and the view of the river too... Our rooms were decent - lots of space, but could do with some reno (bathroom shower leaked onto the floor, thin walls, old windows), not an issue overall though. We absolutely loved our stay and wished it could have been longer! We shall definitely be back

Have stayed multiple times and have always had a good experience. We arrived late due to multiple road closures and the Chef Andy stayed late so that we could still get a hot meal which was very much appreciated. Lovely spacious rooms. Clean and comfortable. Bed was very comfortable. Bar area was cosy with roaring fire. Great cooked breakfast and well presented continential option. Lady serving breakfast was really friendly as are all the staff here that ive come across. I will return and I would recommend it. Also a great rural location very peaceful next to the river.

Food is always unnoteworthy or slightly disappointing. I have been here many times as it’s a nice location but I have been brought to this review after they served me an apple crumble which had NO crumble it was just a cherry soup. I ordered the apple crumble here a few years ago and it was great, definitely gone down hill.
