Apartment 1 occupies the second floor of Astor House, a substantial Victorian building that was refurbished into holiday apartments while retaining its period character. You get a living and dining room with a sofa bed, a separate bedroom with a king-size bed, a kitchen with gas cooking and electric oven, and a bathroom with a bath and shower. The essentials—heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi—are included. On-site parking is available.

The apartment sleeps four and suits families or groups; a cot and highchair can be requested. A balcony opens from the living area via the window (note there is a step up to it), and shared grounds with seating areas surround the building. The property does not permit smoking. Torquay's town centre is close by, along with beaches, the marina and nearby shopping. Paignton Zoo is roughly a mile away, Dartmouth and Dartmoor are easily accessible, and Totnes with Dartington Hall lies about 30 minutes off. The building sits on multiple levels, so the grounds contain significant steps.
