About Newburgh Guesthouse

A proper cooked breakfast is the backbone of a stay at Newburgh Guesthouse, setting guests up for a day exploring Torquay and Devon's coastline before they've even left the building. The building itself dates back to 1861, and it has kept the relaxed, traditional feel of a long-standing family guesthouse rather than chasing a more corporate finish.

There are six rooms, including family rooms and accessible rooms, all with en-suite bathrooms and drinks available in room. Free WiFi and 24 hour reception cover the practical side of things, and free on-site parking is a genuine plus in a seaside town where space can be tight.

Outside the front door, the area suits both active and easy-going stays, with walking and cycling routes, golf, fishing and watersports all nearby, plus pubs, restaurants and entertainment within easy reach for evenings out. It's a straightforward base for the English Riviera, built around comfortable rooms and a hearty start each morning.

For the price, this BnB is excellent. It's close to the beach and harbour, our room had a king size bed, power shower and was large and clean. The breakfast was decent and Adrian, the host, was very accommodating, especially with my wife's food intolerances. The few bad reviews I've read seem to be from people expecting the Ritz. If you want private parking and perfectly decorated rooms, then go spend £200 a night! For the money this place was fantastic! The main issue was parking. It's street parking. There are a few spaces at the back of the building but they're very tight. You may have to park up the other end of the street or on Croft road nearby. However we were able to park on the road itself without an issue so it wasn't really a problem for us.

Great base in Torquay, beach within walking distance & plenty of restaurants. Adrian (host) was very friendly & has a great knowledge of the area so a good starting point. Room was clean & tidy, plenty of tea/coffee & more if needed! The bed was absolutely the most comfortable I’ve been in whilst away & it deserves a 5* on that alone. The breakfast also top notch. It’s made to order & plenty of choices. Full English/ scrambled eggs with salmon to name a couple plus choice of cereals, fresh juice, tea/coffee & pain au chocolate. A great little gem of a place amongst a whole street of B&Bs. Thanks for your hospitality Adrian.

Lovely guesthouse with a superb location. The owner was at pains to make us feel welcome. The room was spacious and well appointed. I had a parking space throughout and a key to come and go. Breakfasts were good. Can’t really fault it!
