About The Imperial Hotel Torquay
Breakfast at The Imperial Hotel Torquay comes with plenty of choice, and it's one of the things guests consistently rate highly, alongside staff who are attentive and quick to help. The hotel also has a restaurant and bar for other meals and drinks, with outdoor seating in the garden for those who want to eat with a view over Torquay and the English Riviera coastline.
There are 152 rooms in total, many with sea views and some with their own balcony, and most guests find them spacious and well kept, though a number of rooms show their age and could do with updating. Facilities extend to air conditioning, en-suite bathrooms, family and accessible rooms, and drinks available in-room, with a lift serving the building throughout.
Beyond the rooms, the hotel offers an indoor and an outdoor swimming pool, a gym, spa and sauna, plus meeting rooms and services for business travellers, making it as suited to a work trip as a seaside break. Golf, fishing, watersports and walking routes are all nearby, along with pubs and restaurants in the surrounding area, and pets are welcome for those travelling with an animal in tow.
What guests say
Amazing views, friendly staff and a beautiful hotel albeit dated in parts. However others considering it should be aware- top floor room had no temp control/ air con so very hot; lift to top floor not working and stunning outdoor pool is closed despite being a summer weekend. On site parking is charged at £20/ night to be covered or £10 if you’re happy to risk your car being pooped on by seagulls. However, would very likely come again- stayed in several hotels in the area and this the nicest overall.

We have just checked out after staying in a deluxe kingsize sea view room. The room was absolutely gorgeous, hotel was fabulous. All the staff are so kind and friendly. I wanted to say a huge thankyou to Jayden from reception for making my mums 70th birthday more memorable. We love this hotel, highly recommend to anyone

I didn’t have high expectations for my stay (I’ve stayed here before for countless Christmas Parties), and yet I was still disappointed. A master suite with beds for 3 people, despite booking for 2 x adults & 2 x teens. A tepid welcome from the quiet lady on reception. Both swimming pools out of action ( the outside one permanently by the sounds of it!). The only good thing is the view and the location. I wouldn’t waste your money tbh. Best off with a holiday let. Would cost you less.

I received a spa package as a gift. Highly recommend, lovely and helpful staff. Facial treatment was amazing. Clean, everything you need included, and the two course lunch looking over the sea was the perfect way to finish the day. Thank you feeling refreshed and relaxed.
